Gymnastics At The 1964 Summer Olympics – Women's Floor Exercise
The women's floor exercise was a gymnastics event contested as part of the Gymnastics at the 1964 Summer Olympics programme at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. Results Preliminary Each gymnast competed in both compulsory and optional exercises. The score for each was determined by a panel of five judges, with the top and bottom scores being dropped before the remaining three were averaged (and truncated to three decimal places). The two average scores were then summed. This score was also used in calculating both individual all-around and team A team is a group of individuals (human or non-human) working together to achieve their goal. Tamara Manina
Tamara Ivanovna Manina (russian: Тама́ра Ива́новна Ма́нина; born 16 September 1934) is a retired Soviet Olympic gymnast and a sports scientist. Biography Her family lived in Petersburg (and later in Leningrad), but Manina was born in Petrozavodsk, where her father was on a long mission. During the German-Soviet War she was evacuated from besieged Leningrad into Tashkent. She returned into Leningrad in 1944 and began gymnastics at the Leningrad Young Pioneer Palace in the same year. She was called "Monia the Bird" by groupmates for her graceful and light vaults. Competing as a junior, she won the all-around title at the USSR Nationals in 1953, and became a candidate for the USSR team. Muriel Grossfeld
Muriel Evelyn Grossfeld (née Davis; October 7, 1940 – January 17, 2021) was an American gymnast who won a team gold medal at the 1963 Pan American Games. She competed in all artistic gymnastics events at the 1956, 1960 and 1964 Olympics and finished ninth with the American team four times: all-around in all three games and in the team portable apparatus in 1956. Her best individual result was 19th place in the floor exercise in 1960. Grossfeld was married to the fellow Olympic gymnast Abie Grossfeld, but they later divorced. After retiring from competitions she had a long career as a national gymnastics coach and international referee. In 1981 she was inducted into the U.S. Gymnastics Hall of Fame.
