Gwathmey Siegel
Charles Gwathmey (June 19, 1938 – August 3, 2009) was an American architect. He was a principal at Gwathmey Siegel & Associates Architects, as well as one of the five architects identified as The New York Five in 1969. Gwathmey was perhaps best known for the 1992 renovation of Frank Lloyd Wright's Guggenheim Museum in New York City. Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, he was the son of the American painter Robert Gwathmey and photographer Rosalie Gwathmey. He attended the High School of Music and Art in New York City, graduating in 1956. Charles Gwathmey attended the University of Pennsylvania and received his Master of Architecture degree in 1962 from Yale School of Architecture, where he won both the William Wirt Winchester Fellowship as the outstanding graduate and a Fulbright Grant. The Institute for Architecture & Urban Studies is a non-profit architecture studio and think tank located in Manhattan, New York, United States. IAUS (1967–1984) The Institute of Architecture and Urban Studies was founded in 1967 as a non-profit independent agency concerned with research, education, and development in architecture and urbanism. It began as a core group of young architects seeking alternatives to traditional forms of education and practice. The IAUS developed its curriculum in collaboration with a group of liberal arts colleges and universities and began its undergraduate education program in 1973. William Bernoudy
William Adair Bernoudy (1910–1988) was an American architect. Bernoudy was born in St. Louis where he attended the Washington University in St. Louis School of Architecture (now Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts. He studied under Frank Lloyd Wright in the 1930s. He is noted for the many modernist homes and public buildings he designed, mostly in the St. Louis area. The heyday of his work was in the 1950s. The William A. Bernoudy Residency in Architecture at the American Academy in Rome is named in his honor. In fall of 2019, the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts of Washington University in St. Louis dedicated its new William A. Fallingwater is a house designed by the architect Frank Lloyd Wright in 1935 in the Laurel Highlands of southwest Pennsylvania, about southeast of Pittsburgh in the United States.
