Guryevsk, Kaliningrad Oblast
Guryevsk (russian: Гу́рьевск, german: Neuhausen, pl, Romnowo) is a town and the administrative center of Guryevsky District of Kaliningrad Oblast, Russia, located northeast of Kaliningrad. Population: History In 1255 the Sambians tribe's stronghold of Vurgvala was taken by Teutonic Knights and renamed as ''Neuhausen'' in 1262. Around 1292, the Castle of the Sambian Chapter was built. In 1454, King Casimir IV Jagiellon incorporated the region to the Kingdom of Poland upon the request of the anti-Teutonic Prussian Confederation. After the subsequent Thirteen Years' War (1454–1466), it became a part of Poland as a fief held by the Teutonic Knights until 1525,Górski, pp. 96–97, 214–215 and by secular Ducal Prussia afterwards. Kaliningrad Oblast (russian: Калинингра́дская о́бласть, translit=Kaliningradskaya oblast') is the westernmost federal subject of Russia. It is a semi-exclave situated on the Baltic Sea. Types Of Inhabited Localities In Russia
The classification system of inhabited localities in Russia and some other post-Soviet states has certain peculiarities compared with those in other countries. Classes During the Soviet time, each of the republics of the Soviet Union, including the Russian SFSR, had its own legislative documents dealing with classification of inhabited localities. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the task of developing and maintaining such classification in Russia was delegated to the federal subjects.Articles 71 and 72 of the Constitution of Russia do not name issues of the administrative and territorial structure among the tasks handled on the federal level or jointly with the governments of the federal subjects.
