Guntur West Mandal
Guntur West mandal is one of the 58 mandals in Guntur district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is under the administration of Guntur revenue division and was formed by bifurcating Guntur urban mandal into '' Guntur East'' and ''Guntur West'', with its headquarters at Guntur. Governance The mandal is under the administration of a tahsildar. It forms part of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region, under the jurisdiction of the APCRDA. Guntur west assembly constituency represents the state assembly and it is a segment of Guntur Lok sabha constituency. Settlements Guntur West mandal covers a western part of Guntur Municipal Corporation and its urban agglomerations namely, Ankireddipalem, Chowdavaram, Guntur West constituency, Koritepadu, Nallapadu, Pedapalakaluru, Pothuru and R Agraharam. A tehsil (, also known as tahsil, taluka, or taluk) is a local unit of administrative division in some countries of South Asia. In India and Pakistan, a Tehsildar or Mamlatdar is a tax officer accompanied by revenue inspectors. They are in charge of obtaining taxes from a tehsil with regard to land revenue. Mandal in Andhra Pradesh, India is a sub-District. History The Mandal system came into existence as an administrative reform, as part of reducing the size of erstwhile taluks and making them more effective and manageable. The decentralisation of taluks into mandals was done with a two-pronged strategy of modernising the revenue administration, record-keeping as well as further decentralising the panchayati raj system. It was hoped that the division of erstwhile large Talukas into mandals could make them more manageable, and also that the administration of the state government, especially the revenue administration, will become monitored closely. Guntur Municipal Corporation
Guntur Municipal Corporation is the civic body that governs the Guntur City in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is one of the oldest municipalities and the third largest municipal corporation in the state. History Guntur municipality was constituted in the year 1866 and the first elected body was formed in 1881. The municipality was upgraded to II-Grade in 1891, I-Grade in 1917, Special Grade in 1952 and then to Selection Grade in 1960. In 1994, the Municipal Corporation was formed. Guntur West is a constituency in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, representing the state legislative assembly in India.
