Gunslingers (film)
''Gunslingers'' is a 1950 American western film written by Adele Buffington and directed by Wallace W. Fox. It stars Whip Wilson, Andy Clyde, and Reno Browne. Plot Lawman Whip Wilson arrests Tim Cramer and his gang after they conduct a payroll robbery. As he talks to Tim, Whip learns that Tim turned to a life of crime after his father was recently accused of cattle rustling. Lou, Tim's father, was a blacksmith in Rockville, the local town. When he goes into town, he learns from "Rawhide" Rosie Rawlins that Tim's father, Lou, the local blacksmith, is currently under trial in the town's saloon for his alleged crime. After Lou is convicted for rustling and sentenced to death, Marshal Dean takes him out of the saloon and is leading him to the jail. Whip feels that something is off about the whole process, so he masks his face and confronts the marshal. Elmer Stephen Clark (February 26, 1891 – June 29, 1954) was an American actor. He is best known for playing sheriff roles in movies and television. Prior to 1933 he had been a stage actor, director and manager since 1909. Clark was born February 1891 in Daviess County, Indiana. He married Ruth Clark and later to Emily Margaret Clark and Ruth. National Legion Of Decency
The National Legion of Decency, also known as the Catholic Legion of Decency, was a Catholic group founded in 1934 by Archbishop of Cincinnati, John T. McNicholas, as an organization dedicated to identifying objectionable content in motion pictures on behalf of Catholic audiences. Members were asked to pledge to patronize only those motion pictures which did not "offend decency and Christian morality". The concept soon gained support from other churches. Condemnation by the Legion would often diminish a film's chances for success because it meant the population of Catholics, some twenty million strong at the time, (plus their Protestant allies), would avoid attending any screening of the film. Carl Mathews (February 19, 1903 – May 3, 1959), also sometimes credited as Carl Matthews, was an American character actor and stuntman of the 1930s through 1950s. Born on February 19, 1903 in Oklahoma, his first film role would be in ''Rough Riding Ranger'' in 1935.
