Guns (film)
''Guns '' is a 1990 action film about a group of female agents who are sent to take out a South American gun runner. The film was written and directed by Andy Sidaris, and stars Erik Estrada, Dona Speir, Devin DeVasquez, Cynthia Brimhall, and Danny Trejo. It's the fifth installment in the Triple B series. Plot An international crime lord stages a brutal murder to lure federal agents away from Hawaii in an attempt to smuggle assault weapons from China to South America, via Hawaii. Andy Sidaris
Andrew W. Sidaris (February 20, 1931 – March 7, 2007) was an American television and film director, film producer, screenwriter, and actor. Early life Sidaris was born in Chicago, Illinois, to first-generation Greek immigrants. He grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana, graduated from C.E. Byrd High School, and attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. His family was active in city sports circles. His brother Chris W. Sidaris (1927–2000), was the former director of the Shreveport Parks and Recreation Department. Career Sidaris was best known for his ''Bullets, Bombs, and Babes'' or ''Bullets, Bombs, and Boobs'' (BBB for short) series of B-movies produced between 1985 and 1998. Girls with guns is a subgenre of action films and animation that portray a female protagonist engaged in shootouts. The genre typically involves gun-play, stunts and martial arts action. Cinema The 1985 Hong Kong film ''Yes, Madam'', directed by Corey Yuen and starring Michelle Yeoh and Cynthia Rothrock, was described by Lisa Funnel as the first "girls with guns" film. Other films of the subgenre were produced until 1994, featuring the likes of Yukari Oshima, Moon Lee, and Cynthia Khan. In the early 2000s, films part of what has been called a "girls with guns revival" cycle were produced.
