"Gunnin'" is the fifth single by Canadian pop punk band Hedley off their debut self-titled album. The song was also included on the American release version of '' Never Too Late''. The song was written by the members of the band and by Dave Genn. The single also topped Canada's MuchMusic Countdown in 2006. Background The music video for "Gunnin'" was directed by Kevin De Freitas and Chris Sargent and released in 2006. In 2007, the song won "Best Pop Video" at the MMVAs. "Gunnin'" reached number one on Canada's MuchMusic Countdown in the week of December 1, 2006. Commercial performance "Gunnin'" reached number 27 on the ''Billboard'' Canada CHR/Top 40. ''Hedley'' is the debut studio album recorded by Canadian rock band Hedley, released in Canada on September 6, 2005, through Universal Music Canada. The album reached the top 3 on the Canadian Albums Chart and has been certified double platinum by Music Canada. It garnered a nomination for Rock Album of the Year at the 2006 Juno Awards. Six tracks were released as singles: " On My Own", "Villain", "Trip", "321", "Gunnin'", and "Street Fight". The music videos for all of these songs, except "Villain" and "Street Fight", reached #1 on the MuchMusic countdown. Following Hedley signing a US record deal with Capitol Records in the summer of 2006, the album was released in the US on September 26, 2006. Hedley was a Canadian pop rock group that originated in Abbotsford, British Columbia, originally formed in 2003. They were named after the unincorporated community of Hedley, British Columbia, a name chosen after members heard that it was for sale for $346,000. ''Famous Last Words'' is the second full-length album by Hedley released on October 30, 2007. It debuted at number three on the Canadian Albums Chart upon release. In the United States, the album is known as ''Never Too Late'' and was released on May 12, 2009. The album only includes 8 tracks from the Canadian release and contains 5 tracks from '' Hedley'', which replaced the missing tracks from ''Famous Last Words''. Unlike ''Famous Last Words'', ''Never Too Late'' has a blue background on its album cover, whereas the Canadian release has a red background on its cover. Background and recording The group began working on their second studio album in May 2007 with producers Dave Genn and Greig Nori.
