Gunhild Ziener
Gunhild Ziener (née Krakelsrud, 1868–1937) was a Norwegian socialist and politician. A pioneer in Norway's women's movement, she was the first president of the Norwegian Labour Party's Women's Federation when it was established in Christiania in 1901. Thereafter she fostered its extension throughout the country. She was also involved in launching the organization's magazine, ''Arbejderkvinnen'' (The Working Woman). Life Krakelsrud was born on 19 August 1868 in Ski, the south of Norway. Socialist Feminists
Socialist feminism rose in the 1960s and 1970s as an offshoot of the feminist movement and New Left that focuses upon the interconnectivity of the patriarchy and capitalism. However, the ways in which women's private, domestic, and public roles in society has been conceptualized, or thought about, can be traced back to Mary Wollstonecraft's ''A Vindication of the Rights of Woman'' (1792) and William Thompson's utopian socialist work in the 1800s. Ideas about overcoming the patriarchy by coming together in female groups to talk about personal problems stem from Carol Hanisch. This was done in an essay in 1969 which later coined the term 'the personal is political.' Norwegian Labour Party's Women's Federation
The Norwegian Labour Party's Women's Federation ( no, italic=no, Arbeiderpartiets kvindeforbund) was established in Christiania in 1901 and extended to cover the whole of Norway in 1909. Initially concerned with working conditions and voting rights, its interests were extended over the years. The movement was dissolved in 2005 when the Labour Party adopted equal gender distribution in all its bodies, both national and local. In its place, a looser "women's network" was set up within the party in order to bring women into leadership roles at all levels.
