Gun Control Australia (GCA) is an Australian incorporated gun control, anti-gun association that advocates for tighter gun laws in Australia, gun laws. Itwebsiteis run by volunteer lawyers, public health academics and social media social justice warrior, activists. The organisation is funded by community donations and is not officially affiliated with any political party. The organisation was originally known as the National Coalition for Gun Control, established by Rebecca Peters. The current GCA was incorporated in New South Wales on 26 August 2013. Its Chair is Samantha Lee and Vice President is Roland Browne, both are lawyers who have volunteered in the area of gun control for over ten years. Gun laws in Australia are predominantly within the jurisdiction of Australian states and territories, with the importation of guns regulated by the federal government. In the last two decades of the 20th century, following several high-profile killing sprees, the federal government coordinated more restrictive firearms legislation with all state governments. Timothy Ewen Costello AO (born 4 March 1955) is an Australian Baptist minister who was the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Advocate of World Vision Australia. Costello worked as a lawyer and served as mayor of St Kilda. He has authored a number of books on faith and life. IANSA (NGO)
The International Action Network on Small Arms (IANSA) was incorporated on 30 May 2002 under the laws of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The IANSA London office was closed in 2015, but it has an active UN liaison office in New York. Simon Fenton Chapman, AO (born 14 December 1951) is an Australian academic and tobacco control activist. Life and career Chapman was born in Bowral, New South Wales to Margaret and Alec Chapman who had emigrated from England in 1948. He is an Emeritus Professor in Public Health at the University of Sydney. In his PhD in social medicine he examined the semiotics of cigarette advertising. He has authored 21 books and major reports, 338 papers and editorials, and 198 letters and commentaries in peer reviewed journals.
