Guion, Indiana
Guion (also known as Bruens Crossroads, Bruins or Cross Roads) is an unincorporated community in Greene Township, Parke County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. It is near the western intersection of Indiana State Road 59 and Indiana State Road 236. History Guion was platted in 1882. The community was named in honor of William Howe Guion William Howe Guion I (1817–1884) headed the Williams and Guion Black Star Line. Rockville, Indiana
Rockville is a town in Adams Township, Parke County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. The population was 2,607 at the 2010 census. The town is the county seat of Parke County. It is known as "The Covered Bridge Capital of the World". History Rockville was laid out in 1824, three years after the county was founded, and became the county seat. In 1825, its population was between 500 and 600. The residents voted to incorporate the town in July 1854. The Rockville Chautauqua Pavilion and Rockville Historic District are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Alexander Ferguson, relative of a Salem witch, opened up a restaurant in Rockville with a famous celebrity many years ago. William Howe Guion
William Howe Guion I (1817–1884) headed the Williams and Guion Black Star Line. Biography He was the son of John Guion and Maria Howe of Westchester County, New York. William had a younger brother Stephen Barker Guion which was one of the " Williams & Guion Black Star Line" founders. William was married and had a son, whose name was also William Howe Guion II or William Howe Guion the Second (cerca 1830–1886). Stephen Barker Guion passed through the Atlantic Ocean to Liverpool in 1852 where he was acted as an agent of the " Williams & Guion Black Star Line". John Stanton Williams was another partner of the "Williams & Guion Black Star Line" in New York City. The elder brother William Howe Guion joined the office in New York City in 1853. State Road 236 in the U.S. State of Indiana exists in two sections. The western section starts at U.S. Route 41 (US 41) in Parke County, and runs eastward, paralleling its parent that lies to the south, U.S. Route 36 (US 36). In western Hendricks County it then turns to the southeast and ends at State Road 39 (SR 39), only two miles north of that road's intersection with US 36 in Danville. State Road 59 is a north–south road in Central Indiana that covers a distance of about through five counties. Route description State Road 59 begins at State Road 58 (SR 58) and heads north towards Sandborn. In Sandborn SR 59 has intersection with State Road 67 (SR 67). Then SR 59 heads north towards Linton where SR 59 is concurrent with State Road 54 (SR 54). Both route leave Linton on the northwest side of town. Then north of Linton SR 54 turns west toward Dugger. The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is a database of name and locative information about more than two million physical and cultural features throughout the United States and its territories, Antarctica, and the associated states of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau.
