Guilty Conscience (song)
"Guilty Conscience" is a song by American rapper Eminem, featuring American hip hop producer Dr. Dre. It was released as the third and final single from Eminem's ''The Slim Shady LP'' (1999). It was also released on his 2005 greatest hits album '' Curtain Call: The Hits''. Background The concept for "Guilty Conscience" first arose whilst Dr. Dre and Eminem were at the gym together and discussing potential song ideas. Dr. Dre proposed a collaboration between the two called "Night 'n' Day", in which Dr. Dre would state various lyrics and Eminem would respond with the exact opposite sentiments. Eminem began writing the song upon returning home that evening. Mark Avery, an announcer from a talent agency, was hired to voice the narrator; after Eminem explained to Avery what he wanted him to say, the rest of the song was constructed around his parts. Bass Brothers is the professional name for the team of Mark and Jeff Bass, the Detroit producers responsible for helping Eminem with his early career and collaborating on much of his subsequent music. Jeffrey Bass ( ; born May 16, 1961) is an American music producer from Detroit, Michigan, best known as one half of the Bass Brothers and for his work with Eminem. Career At age 16, Bass, along with 4 of his childhood friends formed Detroit-based R&B group ''Dreamboy''. In 1980, when Bass was 19 years old, ''Dreamboy'' was signed to Qwest Records, a record label created by Quincy Jones that same year.
