Guillermo Álvarez Macías
Guillermo Álvarez Macías (16 October 1919 – 18 December 1976) was a Mexican general manager of the co-operative cement company Cemento Cruz Azul from 1955 until his death in 1976. Álvarez Macías led the company's re-foundation into a cooperative company town. A prolific cooperative activist, Álvarez Macías is regarded as a prominent figure of modern cooperatives in Mexico. While acting as general manager of Cemento Cruz Azul, Álvarez Macías, campaigned to establish the company's association football team, Cruz Azul, into a professional club where the players would have a considerable amount of control of the team's structure. He achieved this goal in 1961. The club managed to reach the top Division (sport), division in 1964. During his tenure as club chairman, Cruz Azul dominated the league, winning 5 national titles. Cortazar, Guanajuato
Cortazar is a city and its surrounding municipality located in the southeastern quadrant of the state of Guanajuato in Mexico. It is bordered to the north by Villagrán, to the north and east by Celaya, to the southeast by Tarimoro, to the south by Salvatierra, and to the west by Jaral del Progreso and Salamanca. The city had a 2005 census population of 57,748 inhabitants, while the municipality had a population of 83,175. In Mexican football, the Big Four (Spanish: Los cuatro grandes) is a group of four clubs: Club América, Guadalajara (commonly known as Chivas), Cruz Azul and Pumas UNAM. Tula River
The Tula River ( es, Río Tula) is a river in Hidalgo State in central Mexico, and a tributary of the Moctezuma River. Geography It runs through the city of Tula de Allende and begins as a drainage channel for the Valley of Mexico, which contains the metropolitan Mexico City region. The Moctezuma River is a tributary of the Pánuco River. The river is significantly contaminated with both organic and inorganic substances. José López Portillo
José Guillermo Abel López Portillo y Pacheco (; 16 June 1920 – 17 February 2004) was a Mexican writer, lawyer and politician affiliated with the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) who served as the 58th president of Mexico from 1976 to 1982. López Portillo was the only official candidate in the 1976 presidential election, being the only president in recent Mexican history to win an election unopposed.
