Ben Guez
Benjamin James Guez (born January 24, 1987) was drafted by the Tigers in 2008, and has played in Detroit's organization from to 2008-2014. He played in the Milwaukee Brewers organization from 2014-2016. In 2012, he was named an MiLB.com Organization All Star for the season, and the Scout.com Toledo Mud Hens Player of the Year. Guez also played for the Israel national baseball team in the Qualification Round to the 2013 World Baseball Classic, playing under the team's manager Brad Ausmus. Early life and personal Guez was born in Houston, Texas, where he resides during the off-season. He is Jewish, was Bar Mitzvah at Congregation Or Hadash in 2000, and says his Jewish upbringing "definitely made me more disciplined as a person." David Guez (born 8 December 1982) is a French tennis player. He achieved a career-high singles ranking of World No. 116 in July 2010. Career At the 2009 Grand Prix de Tennis de Lyon he won with Rajeev Ram and reached to the second round, where he lost with Gilles Simon. In his best win to date, he beat Stanislas Wawrinka 6–3, 6–4 in the 2009 BNP Paribas Masters. In the second round of that tournament, he lost 4–6, 5–7, against his compatriot Gaël Monfils. He has reached the final of seventeen Futures tournaments; in twelve of these he was victorious. David won the one of ATP Challenger Tour tournaments (in St. Petersburg, where he defeated Édouard Roger-Vasselin in the final). Biography His 1996 effort, ''Le Dernier Jour'', took first prize at the Decine festival, and the Audience Award at the International Film Festival of Cergy Pontoise. Mathilda Guez ( he, מטילדה גז; 15 August 1918 – 3 May 1990) was an Israeli politician who served as a member of the Knesset for Rafi and its successors from 1965 until 1977. Biography Born in Sousse in Tunisia, Guez was educated at a French high school. In 1936 she married and moved to Sfax. During World War II she was deported along with the rest of the local Jewish community. After the family returned to their homes, she became involved in Zionist activities; in 1948 she became a member of Youth Aliyah, and was also president of the Tunisian branch of WIZO. In 1957 she made aliyah to Israel after meeting David Ben-Gurion during a trip to Jerusalem, and joined Mapai, working in its Immigrant Absorption department.
