Guelph Indians
The Guelph Indians were a Canadian junior ice hockey team in the Ontario Hockey Association from 1936 to 1940. After four seasons of play, the Guelph Biltmore Hat Company became the team's sponsors, and the team changed names to the Guelph Biltmore Mad Hatters. Guelph's best season was 1937–38, when they played in the OHA championship series for the J. Ross Robertson Cup, but lost to the Oshawa Generals. Guelph
Guelph ( ; 2021 Canadian Census population 143,740) is a city in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. Known as "The Royal City", Guelph is roughly east of Kitchener and west of Downtown Toronto, at the intersection of Highway 6, Highway 7 and Wellington County Road 124. It is the seat of Wellington County, but is politically independent of it. Guelph began as a settlement in the 1820s, established by Scotsman John Galt, who was in Upper Canada as the first Superintendent of the Canada Company. He based the headquarters, and his home, in the community. The area – much of which became Wellington County – had been part of the Halton Block, a Crown Reserve for the Six Nations Iroquois. Galt would later be considered as the founder of Guelph. For many years, Guelph ranked at or near the bottom of Canada's crime severity list. Joe Turner (ice Hockey)
Joseph Turner (March 28, 1919 – December 13, 1944 or January 21, 1945) was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who played one game in the National Hockey League with the Detroit Red Wings during the 1941–42 season. He later served in the United States Army during the Second World War, and was killed in action during the Battle of Hürtgen Forest in 1945. Biography Turner was born in Windsor, Ontario. He played with the Guelph Indians of the Ontario Hockey Association and led the league in goals allowed on three occasions. Detroit, which held his rights, sent him to their American Hockey League affiliate, the Indianapolis Capitals, in 1941. There he played in the first AHL All-Star Game and was a first team All-Star as goaltender. He would also lead the Capitals to a Calder Cup championship. Alan Robert Kuntz (June 4, 1919 – March 7, 1987) was a Canadian ice hockey player. He played 45 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) with the New York Rangers The New York Rangers are a professional ice hockey team based in the New York City borough of Manhattan. Ontario Hockey Association
The Ontario Hockey Association (OHA) is the governing body for the majority of junior and senior level ice hockey teams in the Province of Ontario. The OHA is sanctioned by the Ontario Hockey Federation along with the Northern Ontario Hockey Association. Other Ontario sanctioning bodies along with the OHF include the Hockey Eastern Ontario and Hockey Northwestern Ontario. The OHA control 3 tiers of junior hockey; the "Tier 2 Junior "A", Junior "B" , Junior "C", and one senior hockey league, Allan Cup Hockey.
