Gucha River
Gucha River, referred to as the River Kuja by Luo community originates in the highlands of Kiabonyoru in Nyamira County passing through the heart of Gucha District running west through Migori country where it is joins the Migori River and flows as the Kuja-Migori River into Lake Victoria. As it runs across the Gusii Land part of it becomes the Mogonga River, known for its deadly effects when it floods. Mogonga and Gucha are almost equal in size and they meet just 1 mile before flowing through the Ogembo Town center. The Gucha-Migori river changed its course near its mouth in 2001-2002, moving north to its present location. About 45 km from Migori, the Gogo Falls dam was completed in 1956 with a hydropower capacity of 2MW, connected to the Kenyan national grid. The dam is operated by Kenya Electricity Generating Company (Kengen). Gucha District
Gucha District was a former district in Nyanza Province, western Kenya. It was also known by the name: South Kisii District or Ogembo District. In 1999, its population was approximately 461,00 Its district headquarters were at Ogembo which houses more than a thousand residents, (people who live in the center of the town), with more than one thousand people more that visit it each day. Agriculture is the main industry. Apart from numerous small family plantations, there are large sugar cane fields. The population is mostly Gusii, but the district borders Maasai land at southeast. There has been some ethnic clashes between them. The district had three constituencies: South Mugirango, Bomachoge Borabu Constituency , Bomachoge Chache Constituency and Bobasi. At the 2002 General elections all three seats were won by FORD-People. Guča ( Serbian Cyrillic: Гуча, pronounced ) is a small town located in the Lučani municipality, Moravica District, Serbia. As of 2011 census, it has a population of 3,710 inhabitants. It is famous for its annual Guča trumpet festival, which is held in town and is attended by several hundred thousand visitors each year. Administrative divisions Guča was a separate municipality until 1965, when it was incorporated into the municipality of Lučani. The Guča Trumpet Festival ( sr, Фестивал трубача у Гучи, Festival trubača u Guči), also known as the Dragačevski Sabor ( sr, Драгачевски сабор or ''Dragačevo Fair (Fete, Gathering or Assembly)'', ), is an annual brass band festival held in the town of Guča, near the city of Čačak, in the Dragačevo region of western Serbia. Guča is a three-hour bus ride from Belgrade. 600,000 visitors make their way to the town of 2,000 inhabitants every year, both from Serbia and abroad. Elimination heats are held earlier in the year and only a few dozen bands qualify to compete. Guča's official festival has three parts, Friday's opening concert, Saturday night's celebrations and Sunday's competition.
