Guarujá Open
The Guarujá Open was a men's tennis tournament held in Guarujá, Brazil. History The tournament was originally part of the Grand Prix tennis circuit, it was played on hard until its last year in 1992. The tournament was suspended from the tour from 1984 to 1986. ATP Tour
The ATP Tour is a worldwide top-tier tennis tour for men organized by the Association of Tennis Professionals. The second-tier tour is the ATP Challenger Tour and the third-tier is the ITF Men's World Tennis Tour. The equivalent women's organisation is the WTA Tour. Carsten Arriens
Carsten Arriens (born 11 April 1969) is a former professional tennis player from Germany. Career Arriens played his first tournament on the ATP Tour in 1991, at the Geneva Open, where he upset world number 33 Omar Camporese. In 1992 he won the Guarujá Open, as a qualifier. It would be his only tour title. He also reached the quarter-finals in Long Island. At the 1993 French Open, Arriens won his first Grand Slam match, outlasting Thomas Enqvist in five sets. He was then defeated by MaliVai Washington in the second round. He had a quiet year in 1994, with his best result being a quarter-final appearance in the Athens International. Ricardo Acuña (born 13 January 1958) is a former tennis player from Chile, who won three doubles titles during his career. Tore Meinecke
Tore Meinecke (born 21 July 1967) is a former professional tennis player from West Germany. Career As a junior, Meinecke won the Orange Bowl doubles champion 16-under in 1982 (partnering Boris Becker) and was runner-up at the European Junior Championships (w/Becker). He turned pro in 1983. During his professional career, Meinecke won two doubles titles. He achieved a career-high singles ranking of world No. 46 in May 1988 and a career-high doubles ranking of No. 46 in July 1987. In June 1989, Meinecke suffered a car crash in Clermont-Ferrand, France which put him in a coma for more than a month and forced him to retire from professional tennis at the age of 22. Shlomo Glickstein ( he, שלמה גליקשטיין; born 6 January 1958) is an Israeli former professional tennis player. He reached his career-high singles ranking of World No. 22 in November 1982, and his career-high doubles ranking of World No. 28 in February 1986. Early and personal life Glickstein was born in Rehovot, Israel, lives in Ashkelon, Israel, and is Jewish. His parents immigrated to Israel from Poland. He served in the Israel Defense Forces for three years, from the ages of 18 to 21, rising to the rank of sergeant. Tim Gullikson
Timothy Ernest Gullikson (September 8, 1951 – May 3, 1996) was a tennis player and coach who was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin and grew up in Onalaska, Wisconsin in the United States. Gullikson was Pete Sampras' coach from 1992 to 1995. Tennis career In 1977, he won three tour singles titles and was named the ATP's Newcomer of the Year. During his career as a tennis player, Gullikson won 15 top-level doubles titles, ten of them partnering with his identical twin brother, Tom Gullikson. The brothers were runners-up in the Men's Doubles competition at Wimbledon in 1983. Philip Clive Dent (born 14 February 1950) is a former professional tennis player. Dent's high water mark as a pro singles player was reaching the Australian Open final in 1974, which he lost to Jimmy Connors in four sets. Dent was also the men's doubles champion at the Australian Open in 1975 (with teammate John Alexander), and the mixed-doubles champion at the US Open in 1976 (with teammate Billie Jean King). Ángel Giménez (born 10 October 1955) is a former professional tennis player from Spain. Career Giménez twice made the second round in the singles draw of a Grand Slam draw, both times in 1981. At the French Open he defeated Bolivian Mario Martinez, before losing to Paul Torre. Then at Wimbledon that year he had a win over Jörgen Windahl and was then beaten by Andrew Pattison in five sets. His best doubles performance came in the 1981 French Open, when he and Ricardo Cano reached the third round. He never competed in the Australian Open or US Open. He won two titles on the Grand Prix tennis circuit, at Vienna in 1980 and then the British Hard Court Championships later that year. As a doubles player he reached three finals, but lost them all.
