Guarani Futebol Clube
Guarani Futebol Clube, colloquially called Guarani, is a Brazilian association football club in Campinas, São Paulo. Guarani is the only club from Brazil's countryside to have won the top tier of the Brazilian Championship. The team currently play in the Série B, the second tier of Brazilian football, as well as in the Campeonato Paulista Série A1, the top tier of the São Paulo state football league. It is also known as Bugre, a popular term for an Indigenous Brazilian, and its supporters are known as ''bugrinos''. History Guarani Football Club was founded on April 1, 1911, in the city of Campinas, São Paulo, as Guarany Foot-Ball Club, by the initiative of 12 students from the Gymnasio do Estado (now Culto à Ciência). The students, including Pompeo de Vito, Hernani Felippo Matallo and Vicente Matallo, usually played football at Praça Carlos Gomes. Vicente Matallo became Guarani's first president. Estádio Brinco De Ouro
The Estádio Brinco de Ouro ("Golden Earring"), also known as Estádio Brinco de Ouro da Princesa ("Princess' Golden Earring"), or just Brinco de Ouro ("Golden Earring"), is a association football, football stadium inaugurated on May 31, 1953 in Campinas, São Paulo (state), São Paulo state, Brazil with a maximum capacity of 29,130 people. The stadium is owned by Guarani Futebol Clube and has a pitch size of 105,12m x 70,12m (today is 110m x 75m) Brinco de Ouro's architects were Ícaro de Castro Mello and Osvaldo Correio Gonçalves. History The stadium was inaugurated on May 31, 1953, originally with wood bleachers and a maximum capacity of 15,000 spectators. 22 years later, the wood bleachers were replaced by concrete bleachers, increasing the stadium maximum capacity to 25,000 people. 2009 Campeonato Brasileiro Série B
In 2009, the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B, the second level of the Brazilian League, was contested by 20 clubs from May 8 to November 29, 2009. Top four teams in the table would eventually qualify to the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A to be contested in 2010, meanwhile the bottom four would be relegated to Série C next season. Three former Brazilian champions played in this edition. Vasco da Gama was relegated for the first time in history, meanwhile Bahia and Guarani came back from Série C in 2007 and 2008, respectively. Also playing for the first time was Duque de Caxias, which was promoted along with Atlético Goianiense and Campinense. After spending a single season in Série A, Ipatinga and Portuguesa had returned to Série B along with Figueirense, which was playing top-level since 2002.
