Guadalope
The Guadalope (Guadalop in Catalan and Aragonese) is a river in Aragon, Spain. It is a tributary of the Ebro (Ebre in Catalan). Course This long river rises in the Sierra de Gúdar, near Villarroya de los Pinares and Miravete de la Sierra in the Maestrazgo, Aragon. It receives water from rivulets originating in the Sierra de la Cañada and Sierra Carrascosa. Flowing northeastwards its waters fill the Santolea reservoir, then the dam of Calanda, before it enters the Ebro at Caspe. In addition to the towns mentioned, it also flows through Alcañiz and Civan. Caspe
Caspe is a municipality in the province of Zaragoza, part of the autonomous community of Aragon (Spain), seat of the comarca Bajo Aragón-Caspe. As of 2018 it had a population of 9,525 inhabitants (INE 2018) and its municipality, of 503.33 km2, is the fourth largest in Aragon. Caspe obtained the title of city in the 19th century, as a result of the damage suffered in the Carlist Wars, by concession of Queen Isabella II. Villarroya De Los Pinares
Villarroya de los Pinares is a municipality located in the Maestrazgo region, province of Teruel, Aragon, Spain. According to the 2004 census (INE), the municipality had a population of 190 inhabitants. It is in the northern part of the Gúdar mountain range next to the Guadalope River at an altitude of 1,337 meters and at a distance of 51 km from the provincial capital, Teruel on the A-226 road. Bergantes
The Bergantes is a short river in the Valencian and Aragon Communities which rises in the comarca of el Ports ( Castellón), SSE of Morella. It is the only river in Valencia which forms part of the Ebro basin. Geography Although its course is not long (approximately ) and it has a relatively small basin, it has a strong flow during the winter, due to heavy rainfall in the headwater area, situated in the shadow of the mountainous area to the north. The river Cantavieja and the river Calders, which rise in Teruel province, join the Bergantes at the pueblo of Forcall. The Bergantes joins the Guadalope just before the reservoir at Calanda. Sierra Carrascosa
Sierra Carrascosa is a mountain range in the Maestrazgo comarca of Aragon, Teruel Province, Spain. The highest point in the range is Muela Carrascosa (1,214 m). The Guadalope River flows along the NW side of the range. Geography This 14 km long rocky range is located at the eastern end of the Iberian System and, like neighboring Sierra de Garrucha is characterized by very tight folds. Close to its northeastern end there is a very striking red rock formation known as ''El Guerrero Romano'', "The Roman Soldier". It is a spectacular sight, very visible from A-226 road between Bordón and Castellote. Villarluengo and Bordón are the most important towns in the vicinity of this range. Alcañiz
Alcañiz () is a town and municipality of Teruel province in the autonomous community of Aragon, Spain. The town is located on the banks of the river Guadalope. Alcañiz is the unofficial capital of the Lower Aragon historical region. It lies some 113 km from Teruel, the provincial capital, and 92 km from Zaragoza, the capital of Aragon. Calanda, Spain
Calanda is a town in the province of Teruel, Aragon, Spain. It lies on the southern fringe of the Ebro river basin, at the confluence of the Rivers Guadalope and Guadalopillo. The climate is transitional between Mediterranean and Continental. The local economy is based upon agriculture, especially the cultivation of peaches and olives, both of which have Protected Designation of Origin status: ''Melocotón de Calanda'' in the case of the peach production and ''Aceite del Bajo Aragón'' for the olive oil. Maestrazgo
The Maestrazgo () or Maestrat () is a natural and historical mountainous region, located at the eastern end of the Sistema Ibérico mountain range, in Spain. It encompasses the north of the Autonomous Community of Valencia, in Castellón province, and parts of the east of the Aragonese province of Teruel. The area is mountainous and sparsely populated with a rich mixture of flora and fauna. The district was under control of military orders following the 12th-century Christian reconquest of the area from the Moors. It also had a significant role in the 19th century Carlist Wars and the 20th century Spanish Civil War. Maestrazgo, Aragon
Maestrazgo ( an, Mayestrato) is a comarca in southeastern Aragon, Spain. Its names derives from the Maestrat/Maestrazgo mountain massif that extends to the east to the Comarques of the Valencian Community Alt Maestrat and Baix Maestrat. The most important town is Cantavieja. It is bordered by the Aragonese comarcas of Andorra-Sierra de Arcos, Cuencas Mineras, Comunidad de Teruel and Bajo Aragón, in the north and in the west and Gúdar-Javalambre in the south, as well as with the Castellón Province (Ports (comarca), Alt Maestrat Alcalatén) in the east.
