Guadalajara Film Festival
The Guadalajara International Film Festival ( es, Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara) is a week-long film festival held each March in the Mexican city of Guadalajara, Jalisco, Guadalajara since 1986. The presence in Guadalajara of delegates from other important festivals from around the world has helped Cinema of Mexico, Mexican cinema to have a strong international presence in the last twenty years. The festival has also helped to revitalize the careers of some older more established Mexican and English speaking artists like Arturo Ripstein, Gabriel Figueroa, María Félix, Jaime Humberto Hermosillo, Silvia Pinal, Ignacio López Tarso, Ana Ofelia Murguía, Felipe Cazals, Jorge Fons, Katy Jurado, and Ismael Rodríguez as well as many others. Jorge Fons
Jorge Fons Pérez (23 April 1939 – 22 September 2022) was a Mexican film director. He belonged to the first generation of film directors of the UNAM. His short film, ''Caridad'' (1973), is still considered one of the best films in Mexican cinema. Two of the most important films of his filmography are ''Rojo amanecer'' (1989) and ''El callejón de los milagros'' (1995) based on the homonymous book by Naguib Mahfouz, '' Midaq Alley'' of 1947 (زقاق المدق), which breaks the classic lineal plots in films. His 1976 film, '' Los albañiles'', won the Silver Bear at the 27th Berlin International Film Festival. In 1995, his film ''El callejón de los milagros'' won a Special Mention at the 45th Berlin International Film Festival. Fons died in Mexico City on 22 September 2022, at the age of 83.

Doris Dörrie (; born 26 May 1955) is a German film director, producer and author. Biography Born in Hanover, Dörrie completed her secondary education there in 1973. The same year, she began a two-year attendance in film studies in the drama department of the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. She then studied at the New School of Social Research in New York. She worked odd jobs in cafés and as a film presenter in New York's Goethe-Institut. In 1975, back in Germany, Dörrie began to study at the University of Television and Film Munich. She wrote film reviews for the '' Süddeutsche Zeitung'', where she was also assistant editor. Subsequently, Dörrie worked as a volunteer for various television stations, and filmed short documentaries. Ismael Rodríguez (October 19, 1917 – August 7, 2004) was a Mexican film director. Rodríguez rose to fame due to the movies he directed starring Pedro Infante, and directed many major stars, including Dolores del Río, María Félix, Toshiro Mifune, Jorge Negrete, Sara García, Luis Aguilar, Tito Guízar, Gloria Marín, Carmelita González, Antonio Aguilar, Columba Domínguez or Flor Silvestre. Felipe Cazals
Felipe Cazals (28 July 1937 – 16 October 2021) was a Mexican film director, screenwriter, and producer. His wife was Rosa Eugenia Báez de Cazals. Together with Arturo Ripstein, Cazals was considered in Mexico one of the most representative film directors of his generation. With his films ' (1986), ''Las Poquianchis'' (1976), ''El Apando'' (1976), and '' Canoa'' (1976), he was considered to be one of the most creative and bitter-critical filmmakers in the history of Latin American movies.
