Gruža (river)
The Gruža (Serbian Cyrillic: Гружа, ) is a river in central Serbia. The river is a 62 km long left tributary to the Zapadna Morava. The Gruža originates in the central part of the Rudnik mountain, right under the mountain's main settlement, the village of Rudnik, northeast of the town of Gornji Milanovac, central Serbia. The river flows south next to the village of Majdan, around the Rudnik mountain into the Takovo region and at the village of Nevade, just few kilometers away from Gornji Milanovac, makes a sharp turn to the east. After the villages of Vraćevšnica and Ljuljaci, the Gruža turns south into the Gruža region, a direction it will generally follow for the rest of its course. After the villages of Oplanić and Dragušnica, the river enters the depression of Gruža, a main part of its valley, situated between the mountains of Kotlenik (on the west) and Gledićke planine (on the east). Rudnik Mountain
Rudnik (Serbian Cyrillic: Рудник, ) is a mountain in central Serbia, near the town of Gornji Milanovac. Its highest peak ''Cvijićev vrh'', named after geologist and biologist Jovan Cvijić, has an elevation of 1,132 meters above sea level. It has several other peaks over 1000 m: Srednji Šturac, Mali Šturac, Molitve, Paljevine and Marijanac. ''Rudnik'' literally means 'mine' in Serbian, apparently referring to the mountain's rich mineral resources. The name is probably a testament to the mining activity associated with the mountain throughout several millennia. History The archaeological site of Belovode on the Rudnik mountain contains the world's oldest reliably dated evidence of copper smelting at high temperature, from 5,000 BCE. Drainage Basin
A drainage basin is an area of land where all flowing surface water converges to a single point, such as a river mouth, or flows into another body of water, such as a lake or ocean. A basin is separated from adjacent basins by a perimeter, the '' drainage divide'', made up of a succession of elevated features, such as ridges and hills. A basin may consist of smaller basins that merge at river confluences, forming a hierarchical pattern. Other terms for a drainage basin are catchment area, catchment basin, drainage area, river basin, water basin, and impluvium. Pomoravlje (region)
The Morava Valley ( sr, Поморавље / ''Pomoravlje'', ), is a general term which in its widest sense marks valleys of any of three Morava rivers in Serbia: the West Morava (West Morava Valley), the South Morava (South Morava Valley) and the Great Morava (Great Morava Valley). In the narrow sense, the term is applied only to the Great Morava Valley ( sr, Велико Поморавље / ''Veliko Pomoravlje''). Gruža Lake
Gruža Lake ( sr, Гружанско језеро , translit=Gružansko jezero), is an artificial lake located to the southwest of Knić, Serbia. The lake was created in 1983 as a water reservoir for the city of Kragujevac and the surrounding settlements. The lake covers an area of approximately 9.19 km2, making it the largest body of water in Central Serbia. History The special spatial plan for the future lake and the surrounding area was drafted in 1976. It took almost a decade of scientific and expertly deliberations on the viability of a reservoir on the bad configuration terrain, but the politicians decided to go with it. After various technical setbacks, the water treatment facility in the village of Pajsijević became operational in 1984.
