Ellmau
Ellmau is a municipality in the district of Kufstein in the Austrian region of Sölllandl. It lies 12 km southeast of Kufstein and 9 km west of Sankt Johann in Tirol. It is located at an elevation of 820 m above sea level. It was mentioned for the first time in the records in 1155 and is nowadays part of the Ski Welt skiing area. Ellmau is in very picturesque alpine countryside famed for its proximity to the Wilder Kaiser mountains and the steep wooded and meadowed hills to the south. The village is a very popular holiday resort both in winter and summer. In winter a variety of winter sports are possible on the local pistes and, in summer, the area is ideal for walking, mountain biking and climbing. Walleralm
The Walleralm is an alp with a mountain inn (''Berggasthaus'') that lies at a height of {{Convert, 1170, m, ft above sea level at the foot of the Zettenkaiserkopf, a fore peak of the Zettenkaiser in the Austrian state of Tyrol. The alp is easily and quickly reached by mountain bike or on foot from Lake Hinterstein near Scheffau am Wilden Kaiser along a forest track. The alp has a panoramic view of the Kitzbüheler Horn mountain above the Hohe Salve and across to the Inn valley, in the distance the glaciers of the High Tauern are visible. Alpine Club Map
Alpine Club maps (german: Alpenvereinskarten, often abbreviated to ''AV-Karten'' i.e. AV maps) are specially detailed maps for summer and winter mountain climbers (mountaineers, hikers and ski tourers). They are predominantly published at a scale of 1:25.000, although some individual sheets have scales of 1:50.000 and 1:100.000. The cartographic library of the German (DAV) and Austrian Alpine Clubs (OeAV) currently has about 70 different high mountain maps. Also, individual map sheets of the Alpine region or other interesting mountain areas in the world are continually being published. The publication of its maps has been a function of the Alpine Club since 1865. The reason the two clubs still issue their maps is to complement the range of more or less good official maps of the high mountains with special large-scale maps. Winter Room
A winter room (german: Winterraum) is found in mountain huts used by tourists that are not managed in the winter. The winter room, unlike the rest of the hut, is easily accessible and usually is either not locked or is accessible with an Alpine Club key. A winter room may be used by climbers and hikers in the winter who are self-contained. Usually there is a stove and wood to fire it with; often there is a table as well and somewhere to sleep. The nightly charge publicized on a poster in the hut is paid either by putting it in the money box of the winter room or may be bank-transferred directly to the branch of the Alpine Club that owns the hut. Goinger Halt
The Goinger Halt is a mountain in the Kaisergebirge range in the Northern Limestone Alps in Austria. It has a double summit: a northern top to the rear, the ''Hintere Goinger Halt'' (2,192 metres), and a higher, southern top in front, the ''Vordere Goinger Halt'' (2,242 metres). The name "Halt" means something like Alpine meadow and refers therefore to the peak over the meadow areas, that belong to the parish of Going (c.f. Ellmauer Halt). Location The Goinger Halt climbs immediately east of the Ellmauer Tor from the cirque of the Steinerne Rinne and so lies in the central part of the Kaisergebirge. Opposite it to the west are the peaks of the Karlspitzen and the Fleischbank. To the north the Halt is preceded by the Predigtstuhl. Karlspitzen
The Karlspitzen is a twin-peaked mountain in the middle of the Kaisergebirge range of the Northern Limestone Alps in Austria. The two peaks are the northern ''Hintere Karlspitze'' (2,281 m) and the southern ''Vordere Karlspitze'' (2,263 m) with its summit cross; they are linked by a sharp, exposed, rocky arête. Seen from the south the Vordere Karlspitze is a huge and very prominent block of rock, whereas the Hintere Karlspitze is hidden behind other (lower) neighbouring mountains. Location The Karlspitzen peaks tower over the Ellmauer Tor saddle and Steinerne Rinne couloir to their east and so lie in the heart of the Wilder Kaiser mountains. Treffauer
At , the Treffauer is the third highest mountain in the Kaisergebirge range of the Alps. BEV 1:5000www.austrianmap.at/ref> It lies in the Austrian state of Tyrol. Location The Treffauer rises south of the main ridge and is therefore the most striking mountain in the Wilder Kaiser. Somewhat separated to the north of the Treffauer the long main ridge runs from west to east between the Scheffauer, Sonneck and Zentralkaiser around the Ellmauer Halt. In front of it to the south is the Tuxeck (). Routes Amongst mountaineers the Treffauer is considered an arduous, but nevertheless worthwhile and not especially difficult tour. Ackerl Hut
The Ackerl Hut (german: Ackerlhütte) is an Alpine club hut in the Wilder Kaiser mountains in Austria. It is run by the Kitzbühel section of the Austrian Alpine Club and lies at a height of (according to other sources 1,456 m or 1,465 mAccording to the sign on the hut itself) below the south faces of the Regalmspitze, Ackerlspitze and Maukspitze. Facilities It is a self-service hut with 15 mattresses that serves as a base for mountaineers and climbers. Kleines Törl
The Kleines Törl ("little gate") is a wind gap at an altitude of in the eastern part of the Kaisergebirge mountain range in the Austrian federal state of Tyrol. Viewed from the village of Going to the south, it can be clearly distinguished as a notch in the prominent main crest of the Wilder Kaiser. A signposted and heavily frequented climbing trail runs from the Fritz Pflaum Hut into the Griesner Cirque (''Griesner Kar'') to the north, through the Kleines Törl on the southern side, where the path is known as the ''Gildensteig'', and on down to the Gaudeamus Hut or Ackerl Hut. Steinerne Rinne (Kaisergebirge)
The Predigtstuhl is a high mountain in the Wilder Kaiser range in the Northern Limestone Alps in Austria, east of Kufstein in the Tyrol. The mountain is one of the well-known climbing mountains in the Northern Limestone Alps. Among its most famous climbing routes are the Angermann Gully (''Angermannrinne'') (normal route at UIAA grade III via the Predigtstuhl wind gap), the striking North Rim (''Nordkante'') and the Botzong Chimney (''Botzong-Kamin''). The start point for these routes is the Stripsenjochhaus mountain hut belonging to the Austrian Alpine Club (ÖAV). Ellmauer Tor
The Ellmauer Tor is a 2,000-metre high rock saddle in the middle of the Kaisergebirge in the Austrian state of Tyrol. It is the deepest saddle on the main ridge of the Wilder Kaiser between the ''Ostkaisers Ackerlspitze in the East Kaiser and the Ellmauer Halt in the Central Kaiser mountains. Because there is a well-used route across the Ellmauer Tor with its unique setting, it is often referred to as the "heart of the Kaiser". From the south, seen from the general direction of Ellmau or Going, it is the distinctive notch in the Kaisergebirge between the Karlspitzen and the Goinger Halt.
