Edmund Hansen Grut
Edmund Hansen Grut (January 15, 1831 – 13 June 1907) was a Danish ophthalmologist born in Copenhagen. In 1857 he earned his medical doctorate at the University of Copenhagen, and afterwards traveled to Berlin, where he studied with Albrecht von Graefe (1828-1870). In 1863 he opened an eye clinic at Nørregade, Copenhagen, and in 1873 founded an ophthalmic clinic at Havnegade (Harbour Street), not far from the University Hospital. By 1880, the Havnegade clinic had 19 beds for patients, and on the average performed around 100 cataract surgeries per year. It was also a centre of training for ophthalmology students, where men such as Jannik Petersen Bjerrum (1851-1920), Marius Tscherning (1854-1939) and Gordon Norrie Gordon Norrie (May 6, 1855 in Helsingør – October 11, 1941 in Copenhagen) was a Danish surgeon and ophthalmologist of Scottish parentage who was born in Helsingør (Elsinore). Thomas Alfred Grut
Thomas Alfred Grut (1852–1933) was a Guernsey photographer and author. He published ''Des lures guernesiaises'' in 1927, a collection of newspaper columns in Guernésiais. He also translated some of the Jèrriais stories of Philippe Le Sueur Mourant into Guernésiais. Grut was also one of if not the most noted of all Guernsey photographers in his day. He established his first studio at 2 Victoria Crescent, Victoria Road in St Peter Port in 1879 called the "Central Studio" and later moved his studio to 5 (Le) Pollet Street in St. Peter Port in 1894. Torben Grut
Torben Grut (2 June 1871 - 24 December 1945) was a Swedish architect. Biography Torben Andreas Grut was born at Tuns parish in Skaraborg County, Sweden. Grut studied at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. From 1894, Grut was employed by the Danish architect Hans Jørgen Holm. At the same time, he also became a student at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. From 1893 to 1896, he was associated with Isak Gustaf Clason and from 1898-1899 was employed by Ferdinand Boberg. In 1906, he designed Solliden Palace, the summer residence of the Swedish Royal Family. He designed Stockholm Olympic Stadium in 1912. Torben was the Swedish champion in tennis 1896-1897 and a member of the Danish IOC 1906-1912.
