The Grupo de Operaciones Especiales (GOPES) ( en, Special Operations Group) was the tier 1 police tactical unit of the Federal Police of Mexico. A police tactical unit (PTU) is a specialized police unit trained to handle situations that are beyond the capabilities of ordinary law enforcement units because of the level of violence (or risk of violence) involved. Urban warfare is combat conducted in urban areas such as towns and cities. Urban combat differs from combat in the open at both the operational and the tactical levels.
