Grunt (horse)
Grunt (foaled 12 November 2014) is a retired Thoroughbred racehorse bred in New Zealand and trained in Australia. He won two Group One races, and over a million dollars. Career Grunt made his debut on 20 May 2017 at Flemington. Jumping at odds of $26, he finished third. After a long spell, Grunt broke his maiden at Werribee on 10 December. On the 26th, he had another "effortless" win at Morphetville. Trainer Mick Price said, "Grunt is a work in progress but is a really good horse. I think he’s a big Flemington horse. I can’t wait to get him to 2000 and 2400 (metres) but he is a colt so we’ll try to maximise value on him." A short spell followed before Grunt contested the C S Hayes Stakes. Jumping at $7, he settled just off the pace before getting in the clear in the last 200 metres, winning by a short length. O'Reilly (horse)
O'Reilly (24 August 1993 - 31 December 2014) was a New Zealand bred and trained thoroughbred racehorse who won two Group 1 races. O'Reilly was bred by Waikato Stud Holdings Limited. His dam, Courtza, was the winner of the 1989 Golden Slipper Stakes. He was named after the Irish international rugby player and businessman Tony O'Reilly. He was entered in the 1995 Karaka Yearling Sales but was unable to be sold when he failed a veterinary test, due to an abnormality in his larynx, so he was retained by his owner, Gary Chittick. Racing career O'Reilly was initially placed with Melbourne trainer, Gerald Ryan, but due to injuries was put out to paddock for eight months. After his rest he was then trained by Dave and Paul O'Sullivan at Matamata and ridden in all his races by Lance O'Sullivan. Last Tycoon (9 May 1983 – 27 May 2006) was an Irish bred Thoroughbred racehorse best known for winning the Breeders' Cup Mile and as a leading sire in Australia. Background Last Tycoon was bred in Ireland by his owner Richard C. Strauss's Kilfrush Stud Ltd. Racing career He was trained by Robert Collet from his base at Chantilly Racecourse. At age two Last Tycoon won three of his six starts including the Prix d'Arenberg at Chantilly. At age three the colt won two conditions races in England and two in France before being sent to Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California for the Breeders' Cup Mile. The Thoroughbred is a horse breed best known for its use in horse racing. Although the word ''thoroughbred'' is sometimes used to refer to any breed of purebred horse, it technically refers only to the Thoroughbred breed. Group One
Group One, Group 1, Grade I or G1 is the term used for the highest level of Thoroughbred and Standardbred stakes races in many countries. Flemington Racecourse
Flemington Racecourse is a major horse racing venue located in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is most notable for hosting the Melbourne Cup, which is the world's richest handicap and the world's richest 3200-metre horse race.
