Großer Hermannsberg
The Großer Hermannsberg is a mountain, 867 metres high, south of the main ridge of the Thuringian Forest in the county of Schmalkalden-Meiningen in Germany. Location and area To the north and immediately below the mountain is the village of Oberschönau and the adjacent Kanzlersgrund. Behind them is the main ridge of the Thuringian Forest with its long-distance trail, the Rennsteig. In front of the ridge are the mountains of Hohe Möst and Hoher Stein. To the southwest lies Bermbach, to the southeast is Zella-Mehlis and to the east is Oberhof. Routes to the summit * From Oberschönau or the Kanzlersgrund via the Oberschönau Hiking Hut (''Ski- und Wanderhütte Oberschönau''), past the plateau of the ''Kleiner Hermannsberg''. Wasserkuppe
The is a mountain within the German state of Hesse. It is a large plateau formation at an elevation of and is the highest peak in the Rhön Mountains. Great advances in sailplane development took place on the mountain during the interwar period, driven by annual contests. Near the summit there is still an airfield used by gliding clubs and pilots of light aircraft. Etymology The German name is derived from ''Wasenkuppe, Asenberg'' or ''Weideberg'' and means ''Pasture mountain''. Geography The Wasserkuppe lies in the administrative district Fulda north of Gersfeld. Other villages nearby are Poppenhausen ( west - south west) and Wüstensachsen ( east, part of Ehrenberg, Hesse). Heidelstein
The Heidelstein, between Bischofsheim an der Rhön in the Bavarian county of Rhön-Grabfeld and Wüstensachsen in the Hessian county of Fulda, is a mountain, high, on the state border in the mountains of the High Rhön, part of the German Central Upland range of Rhön. Kreuzberg (Rhön)
The Kreuzberg is one of the Rhön Mountains in southern Germany. With about high it is the highest elevation of the Bavarian part of the Rhön, in the province of Lower Franconia. The Kreuzberg — also referred to as the "sacred mountain of the Franconians" — is near the town of Bischofsheim an der Rhön in the district Rhön-Grabfeld. Tourism The Kreuzberg draws a large number of tourists. People visit the Kreuzberg particularly for hiking and or to go skiing in the winter. To that end there are three ski lifts on the northern side of the mountain. In addition, there is also a luge track on the Kreuzberg. Gleichberge
The Gleichberge, which mainly comprise the Großer and Kleiner Gleichberg, are a small, inselberg-like mountain range, up to , in the southwestern part of the German state of Thuringia. They rise just east of the little ancient town of Römhild in the county of Hildburghausen. The Gleichberge are the most imposing witnesses to the Tertiary volcanic activity of the '' Heldburger Gangschar'', which once ran from here to south of the River Main.
