The genus ''Pezoporus'' contains three Australian species: the night parrot (''Pezoporus occidentalis'') and the cryptic ground parrots, the eastern ground parrot (''Pezoporus wallicus'') and the western ground parrot (''Pezoporus flaviventris''). Johann Karl Wilhelm Illiger
Johann Karl Wilhelm Illiger (19 November 1775 – 10 May 1813) was a German entomologist and zoologist. Illiger was the son of a merchant in Braunschweig. He studied under the entomologist Johann Christian Ludwig Hellwig, Johann Hellwig, and later worked on the zoological collections of Johann Centurius Hoffmannsegg. Illiger was professor and director of the "zoological museum" (which is the Natural History Museum, Berlin, Natural History Museum of Berlin in the present day) from its formation in 1810 until his death. He was the author of ''Prodromus systematis mammalium et avium'' (1811), which was an overhaul of the Carl Linnaeus, Linnaean system. Fitzgerald River National Park
Fitzgerald River National Park is a national park in the Shires of Ravensthorpe and the Jerramungup in Western Australia, southeast of Perth. The park is recognised on Australia's National Heritage List for its outstanding diversity of native plant species, including many plants which are unique to the local area. Cape Arid National Park

Western Ground Parrot
The western ground parrot (''Pezoporus flaviventris''; Noongar name ''kyloring'') is an endangered species of parrot endemic to Western Australia and is a close relative of the eastern ground parrot (''Pezoporus wallicus'') and the somewhat more distantly related and mysterious night parrot (''Pezoporus occidentalis''). It is one of the world's rarest birds with about 150 individuals remaining . The western ground parrot plumage is similar to the eastern ground parrot, but feathers of the abdomen and under tail-coverts are bright yellow with indistinct black barring. A least-concern species is a species that has been categorized by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as evaluated as not being a focus of species conservation because the specific species is still plentiful in the wild. Eastern Ground Parrot
The eastern ground parrot (''Pezoporus wallicus'') of Australia is one of only five ground-dwelling parrots in the world, the others being its closest relatives, the western ground parrot (''Pezoporus flaviventris''), the extremely rare night parrot (''Pezoporus occidentalis''), the somewhat closely related Antipodes parakeet (''Cyanoramphus unicolor''), and the unrelated highly endangered kakapo (''Strigops habroptilus'') from New Zealand. The colouration of the three ''Pezoporus'' species and the kakapo is similar – yellowish green with darker barring, somewhat reminiscent of the head and back of the wild-type budgerigar.
