Grosne (river)
The Grosne (french: la Grosne, ) is a long river in the Rhône and Saône-et-Loire departments in central eastern France. Its source is near Saint-Bonnet-des-Bruyères. It flows generally north. It is a right tributary of the Saône into which it flows in Marnay. Its largest tributaries are the Guye and the Grison. Saône
The Saône ( , ; frp, Sona; lat, Arar) is a river in eastern France. It is a right tributary of the Rhône, rising at Vioménil in the Vosges department and joining the Rhône in Lyon, at the southern end of the Presqu'île. The name derives from that of the Gallic river goddess Souconna, which has also been connected with a local Celtic tribe, the Sequanes. Monastic copyists progressively transformed ''Souconna'' to ''Saoconna'', which ultimately gave rise to . The other recorded ancient names for the river were and . Saint-Gengoux-le-National
Saint-Gengoux-le-National () is a commune in the Saône-et-Loire department in the region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in eastern France. It was formerly known as Saint-Gengoux-le-Royal. History In the 10th century, the church of Saint-Gengoux was given to the abbey of Cluny. In the 12th century, the abbot of Cluny requested king Louis VII install a lord of the manor with Saint-Gengoux in order to ensure the safety of the city. At the revolution, Saint-Gengoux-le-Royal took the name of Saint-Gengoux-le-National. It reverted to Saint-Gengoux-le-Royal is 1834, Saint-Gengoux-le-National in 1848, Saint-Gengoux-le-Royal in 1852 before finally settling on Saint-Gengoux-le-National in 1881. Savigny-sur-Grosne (, literally ''Savigny on Grosne'') is a commune in the Saône-et-Loire department in the region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in eastern France. The composer and choral conductor Charles Ravier (1934–1984) was born in Savigny-sur-Grosne. Taizé () is a commune in the Saône-et-Loire department in the region of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in eastern France. The commune lies northwest of Mâcon, the capital of Saône-et-Loire, and north of the town of Cluny. Pilgrimage site The commune contains two churches; the small Parish church and the much larger "Church of Reconciliation". The latter church can hold over 6,000 people.
