Smile
A smile is a facial expression formed primarily by flexing the muscles at the sides of the mouth. Some smiles include a contraction of the muscles at the corner of the eyes, an action known as a Duchenne smile. Among humans, a smile expresses delight, sociability, happiness, joy, or amusement. It is distinct from a similar but usually involuntary expression of anxiety known as a grimace. Although cross-cultural studies have shown that smiling is a means of communication throughout the world, there are large differences among different cultures, religions, and societies, with some using smiles to convey confusion or embarrassment. Evolutionary background Primatologist Signe Preuschoft traces the smile back over 30 million years of evolution to a "fear grin" stemming from monkeys and apes, who often used barely clenched teeth to portray to predators that they were harmless or to signal submission to more dominant group members. The smile may have evolved differently among spe ...

Grin (Coroner Album)
''Grin'' is the fifth studio album by the Swiss thrash metal band Coroner, released in 1993. It was the band's final album before their fourteen-year break up from 1996 to 2010, and to date, other than several new tracks on the 1995 compilation album ''Coroner'', ''Grin'' remains the most recent studio album by the band. It is also the last Coroner album to feature drummer Marky Edelmann, who left the band in 2014. Musical style ''Grin'' is considered a major departure from Coroner's previous works, moving to much greater experimentation. It is more focused on the aspects of progressive and technical metal, as opposed to the traditional thrash metal template of its predecessors. The album also incorporates elements of alternative metal, groove metal and industrial metal, and retains some of the avant-garde influences from the band's previous albums '' No More Color'' (1989) and ''Mental Vortex'' (1991).http://www.metal-temple.com/site/catalogues/entry/reviews/cd_3/c_2/coroner-gr ...

True Romance (Charli XCX Album)
''True Romance'' is the debut studio album by English singer Charli XCX. It was released on 12 April 2013 by Asylum and Atlantic Records. Originally scheduled for release in April 2012, the album's release was delayed for a full year and had been in the making since early 2010 when Charli met with producer Ariel Rechtshaid in Los Angeles. To promote the album's release, Charli embarked on a three-date UK promotional tour in April 2013. Background and release " You're the One" has been compared to Siouxsie and the Banshees' 1991 song " Kiss Them for Me" and Charli agreed: "At the time, I was listening to a lot of dark pop, so I was inspired by a lot of the deep bass sounds. Sure, Siouxsie is there, too. We just kind of rolled with it." Charli explained the meaning behind the album's title saying, "Every corner of my own romantic history is explored on this record, so for me, it's very raw, it's very honest, and it's very true." The majority of the album's tracks were previously ...

Grins is a municipality in the Landeck district in the Austrian state of Tyrol located 3.7 km west of Landeck and 18 km east of Sankt Anton am Arlberg. The village has 10 subdivisions. Settlement of the area already began 2000 years ago because of the sunny climate but the village was mentioned for the first time in documents in 1288 as „''Grindes''“. In 1945 the location was greatly destroyed by a conflagration A conflagration is a large fire. Conflagrations often damage human life, animal life, health, and/or property. Germplasm Resources Information Network
Germplasm Resources Information Network or GRIN is an online USDA National Genetic Resources Program software project to comprehensively manage the computer database for the holdings of all plant germplasm collected by the National Plant Germplasm System. GRIN has extended its role to manage information on the germplasm reposits of insect (invertebrate), microbial, and animal species (see sub-projects). Description The site is a resource for identifying taxonomic information (scientific names) as well as common names on more than 500,000 accessions (distinct varieties, cultivars etc.) of plants covering 10,000 species; It gives 450,000 accessions (outdated; GRIN gives 500,000 as of June 2012). both economically important ones and wild species. It profiles plants that are invasive or noxious weeds, threatened or endangered, giving out data on worldwide distribution of its habitat; as well as passport information. GRIN also incorporates an Economic Plants Database. The network ...

Gradient-index Optics
Gradient-index (GRIN) optics is the branch of optics covering optical effects produced by a gradient of the refractive index of a material. Such gradual variation can be used to produce lenses with flat surfaces, or lenses that do not have the aberrations typical of traditional spherical lenses. Gradient-index lenses may have a refraction gradient that is spherical, axial, or radial. In nature The lens of the eye is the most obvious example of gradient-index optics in nature. In the human eye, the refractive index of the lens varies from approximately 1.406 in the central layers down to 1.386 in less dense layers of the lens. This allows the eye to image with good resolution and low aberration at both short and long distances. Another example of gradient index optics in nature is the common mirage of a pool of water appearing on a road on a hot day. The pool is actually an image of the sky, apparently located on the road since light rays are being refracted (bent) from their ...
