Grigori Roshal
Grigori Lvovich Roshal (russian: Григорий Львович Рошаль; October 21, 1899 – January 11, 1983) was a Soviet film director and screenwriter. He directed 26 films between 1926 and 1968. Biography Grigori Roshal was born on 21 in October 1899 (according to other sources either on 20 in October 1899 or in 1898 ), in the city of Novozybkov (now Bryansk Oblast, Russia). After graduating from the Tenishev School in St. Petersburg he was employed at the People's Commissariat for Education of Ukraine and Crimea between the years 1918 and 1919. Since 1919 he was an instructor at the People's Commissariat of Azerbaijan, selected as head of the artistic and educational part of the children's playground in Zheleznovodsk. In 1921 he moved to Moscow to work in the People's Commissariat for Russia as an instructor in the school theater, was chairman of the Council on Arts Education Main Department of Social Education and taught the subject of theater at the Central House ...

Novozybkov
Novozybkov (russian: Новозы́бков; be, Навазыбкаў) is a historical town in Bryansk Oblast, Russia. Population: The city has a branch of the Bryansk State University. History It was founded in 1701 and was granted town status in 1809. Novozybkov was a major hemp supplier in the 18th and 19th centuries, particularly for the production of ropes for the Imperial Russian Navy. Following the Crimean War, the demand for hemp fell, and cultivation stopped altogether at the beginning of the 20th century. The world's first ground effect vehicle designer Rostislav Alexeyev was born in the town. During World War II, Novozybkov was occupied by the German Army from 16 August 1941 to 25 September 1943. The All-Ukrainian Photo Cinema Administration ( uk, Всеукраїнське фото кіноуправління, translit=Vse-Ukrainske Foto Kino Upravlinnia, or uk, ВУФКУ, translit=VUFKU, label=none) was a cinematographic state monopoly that united the entire film industry in Ukraine (1922–1930). VUFKU was vertically integrated: it controlled production, distribution, and exhibition of films.
