Georg August von Griesinger (8 January 1769 – 9 April 1845) was a tutor and diplomat resident in Vienna during the late 18th and 19th centuries. He is remembered for his friendships with the composers Joseph Haydn and Ludwig van Beethoven, and for the biography he wrote of Haydn. Early life and career He was born in Stuttgart on 8 January 1769. His father was Georg Christoph Griesinger (1734/5 - 1782), who was a lawyer and civil servant. He grew up in Stuttgart and attended university, studying theology, in University of Tübingen, Tübingen. He later worked as a tutor in an aristocratic home in Morges, Switzerland. In 1799, he moved to Vienna, in order to work as the tutor of the son of Count Johann Hilmar Adolph Schönfeld, the ambassador of Electorate of Saxony, Saxony to Austria. Wilhelm Griesinger (29 July 1817 – 26 October 1868) was a German neurologist and psychiatrist born in Stuttgart. Life and career He studied under Johann Lukas Schönlein at the University of Zurich and physiologist François Magendie in Paris. After receiving his doctorate, he worked in several locations, including Winnethal in Württemberg, in Stuttgart (private practice), in the medical clinic at Tübingen, and at the University of Kiel. In 1845 Griesinger published his influential textbook ''Die Pathologie und Therapie der psychischen Krankheiten''. In the early 1850s he traveled to Egypt as director of the medical school in Cairo, and in the meantime became a personal physician to Abbas I. During his stay in Egypt, he gained experience in regards to tropical diseases, and as a result published ''Klinische und anatomische Beobachtungen über die Krankheiten von Aegypten'' (1854) and ''Infectionskrankheiten'' (1857). William Griesinger
William Griesinger (June 20, 1895 – April 16, 1978) was a politician in Ontario, Canada. He was a Progressive Conservative member of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1945 to 1959 who represented the southwestern riding of Windsor—Sandwich. He was a cabinet minister in the governments of George Drew, Thomas Kennedy and Leslie Frost. Background He was born in Windsor, Ontario, the son of Lewis Griesinger. In 1934, he married Mary Adele Allen, with whom he raised daughter Rosemary and adopted son William. He was owner and general manager of the Windsor Lumber Company. Jakob Griesinger
Jakob Griesinger (c. 1407 – 11 October 1491) was a German Roman Catholic professed religious from the Order of Preachers and a former soldier. Griesinger served in the Italian province of Campania as a soldier to the duke and later became disillusioned with such a life before turning to a sudden call to the religious life to which he dedicated the remainder of his life. Griesinger's beatification received approval from Pope Leo XII on 3 August 1825. Life Jakob Griesinger was born around 1407 in Swabia as the second child of Theodoric. Griesinger became a soldier in Naples in 1432 after having stopped in Bologna and then going on a pilgrimage to Rome in Lent to visit the tombs of Simon Peter and Paul the Apostle - he enlisted due to not having enough funds to go back home.
