Gréville-Hague
Gréville-Hague () is a former commune in the Manche department in Normandy in north-western France. On 1 January 2017, it was merged into the new commune La Hague. 27 September 2016 A hamlet (Gruchy) of the village is the birthplace of , a notable impressionist painter. Several of his most important paintings depict local landscapes or rural labour. Handel Greville
Handel Greville (13 September 1921 – 20 June 2014) was a Welsh international rugby union fly-half who played club rugby for a large selection of clubs but most notably for Llanelli. He won just a single international cap for Wales against the touring Australia. Rugby career Greville was born in Drefach, Wales and turned out for several rugby clubs before joining first class team Llanelli. Greville captained Llanelli during the 1948/49 season. He was selected for his only international cap for Wales when the normally reliable Haydn Tanner was unavailable through injury. The game was against the touring Australians which Wales won 6–0 in a match dominated by forward play. Greville gave an international-class performance but lost his place when Tanner was deemed fit for the next game.Smith (1980), pg 306. Dr. Robert Kaye Greville FRSE FLS LLD (13 December 1794 – 4 June 1866) was an England, English mycologist, bryology, bryologist, and botanist. He was an accomplished artist and illustrator of natural history. In addition to art and science he was interested in causes like Abolitionism in the United Kingdom, abolitionism, capital punishment, keeping Sunday special and the temperance movement. He has a mountain in Queensland named after him. Biography Greville was born at Bishop Auckland, County Durham, Durham, but was brought up in Derbyshire by his parents Dorothy ( Chaloner) and Robert Greville. His father who liked to compose was the rector of St James' Church, Edlaston, the parish church in Edlaston in Derbyshire. Robert Fulke Greville
Lieutenant-Colonel Robert Fulke Greville FRS (3 February 1751 – 27 April 1824) was a British Army officer, courtier and politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1774 and 1807. Life The son of Francis Greville, 1st Earl of Warwick, and his wife, the former Elizabeth Hamilton, he was a younger brother of George Greville, 2nd Earl of Warwick, and of Charles Francis Greville. He was educated at the University of Edinburgh. He was commissioned as a cornet in the 10th Dragoons in 1768, and promoted to lieutenant in 1772; he transferred to the 1st Foot Guards in April 1775 and became captain the same year, then lieutenant-colonel in 1777. He saw little or no active service and perhaps the most notable aspect of his army career was as an equerry to King George III from 1781 to 1797. Robert Greville, 2nd Baron Brooke
Robert Greville, 2nd Baron Brooke (May 1607 – 4 March 1643) was a radical Puritan activist and leading member of the opposition to Charles I of England prior to the outbreak of the First English Civil War in August 1642. Appointed Roundhead, Parliamentarian commander in Staffordshire and Warwickshire, he was killed by a Cavalier, Royalist sniper at Lichfield on 2 March 1643. The son of a minor member of the Lincolnshire gentry, Greville was adopted at the age of four by his childless distant cousin Fulke Greville, 1st Baron Brooke, and inherited his title and Warwick Castle in 1628. A devout Calvinism, Calvinist, he was closely associated with Puritan activists and opponents of the 1629 to 1640 period of Personal Rule, including John Pym, John Hampden and Arthur Haselrig. Dame Margaret Helen Greville, ( Anderson; 20 December 1863 – 15 September 1942), was a British society hostess and philanthropist. She was the wife of the Hon. Ronald Greville (1864–1908). Family background Born Margaret Helen Anderson, she was the daughter of William McEwan (1827–1913), a brewery multimillionaire, later elected as an M.P. Julia Emma Greville (born 18 February 1979) is an Australian middle-distance freestyle swimmer who won a bronze medal in the 4×200-metre freestyle relay at the 1996 Summer Olympics. Coming from Perth, Western Australia, Greville emerged onto the scene in 1995, winning the 200-metre freestyle at the Australian Championships and going on to win a silver medal in the 4×200-metre freestyle relay at the 1995 Pan Pacific Championships in Atlanta, Georgia. At the Atlanta Olympics the following year, Greville reached the final of the 200-metre freestyle, as well as collecting a bronze medal in the 4×200-metre freestyle relay, alongside Susie O'Neill, Nicole Stevenson and Emma Johnson. John Rodger Greville
John Rodger Greville (15 June 1834 – 29 April 1894) was an Irish-born comic actor, singer, songwriter and stage manager who had a long career in Australia. History Greville was born John Rodger in Dublin, Ireland, a son of John Rodger JP (c. 1812–1897) and his wife Jane Rodger, ''née'' Greville (died 1899). His first acting experience was in May 1851, when he played Rochester in a comedy entitled ''Charles II'', with Dublin's Royal Phoenix Amateur Theatre. In 1852 the family emigrated to Victoria, Australia, where Greville made his first stage appearance at the Queen's Theatre, Melbourne, singing with Charles Frederick Young, Charles Young at a Saturday night concert run by violinist Joseph Megson.
