Greg Pearce is an Australian journalist. Career Originally a booth announcer with the ABC, Pearce became best known as presenter of the '' Ten News'' bulletin for Perth, prior to that he had been a short term news presenter for '' Seven News'' in Melbourne and had a short stint with Nine. Originally produced locally in Perth, the 5pm news production was moved to Sydney as Network Ten claimed the upgrade of the Perth studios was too expensive at the time. Pearce continued to present Perth's news, from Sydney, with Christina Morrisey and later Celina Edmonds. He also often filled in for Sandra Sully on '' Ten Late News''. After 15 years as the presenter for '' Ten News Perth'', Pearce cited family reasons and resigned from Ten to return full-time to Western Australia. He worked with ABC Local Radio in South Western Australia, presenting ABC South West's Breakfast show. Gregory Stephen Pearce (born 22 January 1955), an Australian politician, is a former member of the Legislative Council of New South Wales, representing the Liberal Party from 1 November 2000 to 15 November 2017. He also served as Minister for Finance and Services and Minister for the Illawarra in the O'Farrell ministry from 2011 to 2013. Early life and education Pearce was born to parents George Alfred and Margaret Anne Pearce on 22 January 1955 at Camperdown, New South Wales,Who's Who Australia one of three siblings. Pearce attended public primary schools at Bundanoon and Wentworth Falls, but later went on to be educated in the Catholic school system at De La Salle Brothers and Benilde High School at Bankstown. He then attended the University of Sydney and obtained a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws. Greg Pierce
Gregory Stuart Pierce (4 March 1950 – 24 June 2016) was an Australian rugby league player, coach and administrator. He played as a for the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks in the National Rugby League competition and for Australia. He captained his country on one occasion. Junior football Pierce grew up in Marrickville on the outskirts of inner Sydney and played his junior football for Sydenham in the Newtown Juniors as well as for the Belmore Old Boys in the Canterbury junior league. He was recommended to join Gymea in the fledgling Cronulla Sharks junior league after Sydenham were unable to field a team in his age group. Pierce was at university studying civil engineering when he was graded by Cronulla in 1969. Club career Tommy Bishop also arrived at Cronulla in 1969 and after the departure of Ken Kearney as coach in 1970, Bishop took over as captain and coach.
