Greg Hawick
Greg Hawick (3 May 1932 – 6 February 2020) was an Australian rugby league footballer and coach. A fine utility back for the champion South Sydney Rabbitohs teams in the 1950s and a representative player in the Australian national side, he was named at in an Australian 1950s rugby league team of the decade. Playing career Club A South Sydney junior Hawick had played with the Alexandria Rovers junior club. Hawick made his first-grade debut with Souths in 1950 as a lock forward but subsequently switched to the backline playing halfback and centre. He won a premiership with Souths in his debut year, but then missed out on a second in season 1951 when his jaw was broken in the semi-final against St George. He eventually gained his second premiership victory in the 1954 NSWRFL season. Hawick's career with South Sydney stretched from 1950 to 1956, during which he played in five premiership winning teams. New Zealand National Rugby League Team
The New Zealand national rugby league team (Māori: Tīma rīki motu Aotearoa) has represented New Zealand in rugby league since 1907. Administered by the New Zealand Rugby League, they are commonly known as the Kiwis, after the native bird of that name. The team's colours are black and white, with the dominant colour being black, and the players perform a haka before every match they play as a challenge to their opponents. The New Zealand Kiwis are currently second in the IRL World Rankings. Bob Sullivan (rugby League)
Bob Sullivan was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1940s and 1950s. He played in the NSWRFL premiership for North Sydney as a five-eighth. Playing career Sullivan began his first grade career in 1949 with North Sydney. In the early 1950s, Sullivan was a member of the North Sydney sides which reached the preliminary finals but fell short of a grand final appearance. In 1954, Sullivan was selected to play for Australia against Great Britain and in the same year was selected to play for New South Wales in the interstate series against Queensland. Sullivan played with North Sydney up until the end of 1959 where he captained North Sydney to a reserve grade premiership, his last game in first grade was during the 1957 season. Ross McKinnon
Ross McKinnon (1914-1962) was an Australian rugby league footballer and coach. Born in Oberon, New South Wales, he played for the University, Eastern Suburbs, New South Wales and for the Australian national side. Playing career McKinnon, who attended Sydney Boys High, graduating in 1932, started playing at the University club as a . He then joined Eastern Suburbs and played with them for four seasons between 1935 and 1938, and won two premierships with them in 1935 and 1937. McKinnon was selected to go on the 1937-38 Kangaroo tour. He is listed on the ''Australian Players Register'' as Kangaroo No. 195. After McKinnon finished playing in Australia's major rugby league competition – the NSWRL he moved to the more rural locality of Cessnock, New South Wales where the Centre played out the remainder of his career as the captain coach of that side. Brian Norton (rugby League)
Brian Norton (27 December 1944 – 22 April 2018) nicknamed "Chicka" was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1960s and 1970s and coached in the 1980s. He played in the NSWRFL premiership for North Sydney and St George as a prop. Early life Norton was born and raised in North Sydney and played his junior rugby league in the area. Norton then moved to Tamworth in country New South Wales and was selected to play in the country representative side in 1967. Playing career Norton was graded by the club he supported as a child, the North Sydney Bears in 1968. Norton spent three years at Norths but the club struggled on the field finishing near the bottom of the table. John Hayes (rugby League)
John "Chow" Hayes is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1960s and 1970s. He played for Western Suburbs in the NSWRL competition, as a or . Early life Hayes was born in Marrickville and left school at 14 to pursue a career in panel beating and also as a professional rugby league footballer. He played his junior rugby league with a number of clubs most notably Granville where he caught the attention of Western Suburbs. Alan James Whiticker (born 1958) is an Australian non-fiction author and publisher, with over 50 published books on history, sport, biography, true crime and lifestyle. The 1985 New South Wales Rugby League premiership was the seventy-eighth season of professional rugby league football in Australia. National Rugby League Season 2004
The 2004 NRL season (also known as the 2004 Telstra Premiership due to sponsorship from Telstra) was the 97th season of professional rugby league football in Australia, and the seventh run by the National Rugby League. Fifteen clubs competed during the regular season before the top eight finishing teams contested the finals series. The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs defeated the Sydney Roosters in the 2004 NRL grand final and in doing so claimed their eighth premiership. Pre-season The beginning of the season was largely overshadowed with several Bulldogs players questioned by police in relation to an alleged rape of a 20-year-old Coffs Harbour woman.
