Greg Gurenlian
Greg Gurenlian (March 23, 1984) is a former professional field lacrosse player from Springfield, Pennsylvania of Armenian descent. He retired as a member of Redwoods Lacrosse Club of the Premier Lacrosse League. He is the founder of The Face-off Academy, a place where young players are trained in faceoffs. He is also the owner of his YouTube page, called GregGurenlian. He is the only faceoff specialist to win the MVP in the MLL. College career Gurenlian was a four year letterman at Penn State University, and was a co-captain in his senior year. He is second all time in ground balls and first all time in faceoff wins. Professional career MLL Gurenlian was drafted by the Rochester Rattlers in the 2006 MLL draft, where he played for two years before joining the San Francisco Dragons. Field Lacrosse
Field lacrosse is a full contact sport, full contact outdoor men's sport played with ten players on each team. The sport originated among indigenous peoples of the Americas, Native Americans, and the modern rules of field lacrosse were initially codified by Canadian William George Beers in 1867. Field lacrosse is one of three major versions of lacrosse played internationally. The rules of men's lacrosse differ significantly from Women's lacrosse, women's field lacrosse (established in the 1890s). The two are often considered to be different sports with a common root. Another version, box lacrosse (originated in the 1930s) is also played under different rules. Lacrosse is a team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a lacrosse ball. It is the oldest organized sport in North America, with its origins with the indigenous people of North America as early as the 12th century. The game was extensively modified by European colonists, reducing the violence, to create its current collegiate and professional form. Trevor Baptiste
Trevor Baptiste (born July 3, 1996) is an American professional lacrosse player who is a face-off specialist for the Atlas Lacrosse Club of the Premier Lacrosse League and currently for the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League. He attended the University of Denver, where he set the NCAA Division I season record for face-off wins by a freshman. During the 2015 regular season, Baptiste led all of college lacrosse in face-off win percentage (72%). He also set the Pioneers' school record for face-off wins during a season. 2018 World Lacrosse Championship
The 2018 World Lacrosse Championship was the 13th edition of the international men's field lacrosse tournament for national teams organized by the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL). As many as 50 countries were expected to compete in the tournament; with the official total coming in at 46, which made the 2018 WLC the largest of all-time. The games were held in Netanya, Israel on 12–21 July 2018. The United States won the tournament, its 10th championship in the history of the event. United States Men's National Lacrosse Team
The United States men's national lacrosse team has won ten of thirteen World Lacrosse Championships, the most recent in 2018. Team USA finished second in the other three field lacrosse tournaments, losing to Canada in 1978, 2006, and 2014. The team is organized by US Lacrosse, the national governing body. Paul Rabil (born December 14, 1985), is an American former professional lacrosse player and co-founder of the Premier Lacrosse League. He played for the Cannons Lacrosse Club and Atlas Lacrosse Club of the Premier Lacrosse League, as well as the Boston Cannons and the New York Lizards of Major League Lacrosse and the San Jose/Washington Stealth and Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League. Youth Rabil was born in Gaithersburg, Maryland. He started playing lacrosse at the age of 12. He attended Watkins Mill High School in Montgomery Village, Maryland, then went on to graduate from DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, Maryland.
