Gregory Campbell (politician)
Gregory Lloyd Campbell (born 15 February 1953) is a British politician who has been the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) Member of Parliament (MP) for East Londonderry since 2001. He was previously a Member of the Northern Ireland Assembly (MLA) for East Londonderry, from 1998 to 2016. In May 2021, Campbell was a candidate alongside Paula Bradley for the position as Deputy Leader of the DUP, following the resignation of the Nigel Dodds; he was unsuccessful in getting elected. Early life Campbell was born and raised in the Waterside area of Derry as an only child. He was educated at the city's technical college and at the University of Ulster. Political career He joined the DUP in the 1970s and was first elected to Londonderry City Council in 1981. Campbell briefly led the local DUP members out of the council in 1984 when it changed its name to Derry City Council, although he returned to his seat not long after. Gregory James Campbell (born December 17, 1983) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey centre and current Vice President of Player Personnel & Development/GM Charlotte Checkers (AHL). He was drafted by the Florida Panthers in the third round, 67th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. Gregory Dale Campbell (born 10 March 1964) is a former Australian cricketer who played in four Test matches and 12 One Day Internationals in 1989 and 1990. Campbell was a right arm fast bowler, and batted as a right-handed tail ender. He is the uncle of former Australian captain Ricky Ponting. Campbell's sister, Lorraine, is married to Graeme Ponting, and Ricky Ponting is their first child. Campbell made his debut in the Sheffield Shield for Tasmania in the 1986–87 season, playing just one match for the season, before missing all of the matches in the following season. However, in the 1988–89 season, Campbell gained attention when he took 36 wickets for the season, giving him selection on the 1989 Ashes tour against England. Greg Campbell (born July 7, 1970) is an American journalist, documentary filmmaker and nonfiction author who lives in Denver, Colorado with his wife. Biography Campbell graduated from Terry Sanford High School in 1988. He then studied English and journalism at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and University of Colorado at Boulder. He began his journalism career in 1995 as a freelance writer at the ''Boulder Weekly,'' becoming a full time reporter and eventually the editor in chief. As a reporter, Campbell covered the reunification of Sarajevo after the Bosnian War. In 1999 Campbell worked at the ''Longmont Times-Call'' as a business editor and special projects reporter. He left the paper in 2001. Campbell co-founded the ''Fort Collins Weekly'' in 2002, a free weekly local newspaper that was distributed in Fort Collins, Colorado.
