Greg Brown (born November 26, 1972) is an American former basketball player and current high school coach. He is known for his standout college career at the University of New Mexico, where he was Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Player of the Year in 1994 and won the Frances Pomeroy Naismith Award as the nation's best player under six feet tall. Brown, a 5'7" point guard from Albuquerque High School, played collegiately at New Mexico Junior College from 1990 to 1992. He moved to his hometown University of New Mexico to play for coach Dave Bliss from 1992 to 1994. Brown led the Lobos to consecutive NCAA tournament berths in 1993 and 1994. Greg Brown is a journeyman American sportscaster, born in Washington, D.C., who has worked as a play-by-play announcer for the Pittsburgh Pirates on AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh and KDKA-FM since 1994. He works with Bob Walk, and John Wehner. Originally, Brown called games with Lanny Frattare until Frattare retired after the 2008 season. Brown grew up in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. He became a Pirates fan through the broadcasts on KDKA radio and would visit Pittsburgh each summer with his parents to see baseball games at Three Rivers Stadium. Brown enrolled at Point Park College and landed an internship with the Pirates' promotion department in 1979, where his duties included serving as the inaugural backup Pirate Parrot. (The Pirates would go on to win the World Series that year.) Gregory Curtis Brown (born March 7, 1968) is an American ice hockey coach and a former professional player, most notably for the Buffalo Sabres and the Pittsburgh Penguins. He is currently the head coach of the Boston College Eagles, an NCAA Division I team competing in Hockey East. Previously, Brown was a member of the Eagles coaching staff for fourteen years from 2004–2018, serving as an assistant coach under Jerry York and later alongside him as associate head coach. He also coached under David Quinn with the New York Rangers from 2018–2021 and served as the head coach for the Dubuque Fighting Saints for the 2021–22 USHL season. Club career Brown played semi-professionally for Mossley, Hyde United and Southport in the United Kingdom before being brought to New Zealand by Napier City Rovers midway through 1985. Despite being sent off in his club debut, Brown's goalscoring touch immediately turned struggling Napier's season around leading them from the bottom of the New Zealand National Soccer League to 1985 Chatham Cup winners in a final that became known as "Greg Brown's final", in which he scored one goal and set up two others in the 3–1 win over North Shore United. Greg Brown (born 26 February 1943) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon in the VFL during the 1960s. Brown was recruited to Essendon locally and he made his debut for the seniors in 1963. He played as a defender, usually at full-back and it was at that position that he was a member of Essendon's 1965 premiership side. After a good season in 1967 where he finished second in his club's Best and fairest, injuries got the better of him and by 1969 he was playing most of his football in the reserves.
