Greg Boykin
Greg Boykin (born December 8, 1953) is a retired NFL running back. He was born in Ravenna, Ohio, and grew up in neighboring Kent, where he attended Theodore Roosevelt High School. Boykin played college football for the Northwestern Wildcats and was later drafted by the New Orleans Saints with the 174th selection in the 1977 NFL Draft. ''Empire Alderney'' was a 288-ton coastal tanker which was built in 1943. She was renamed ''Mil 50'' in 1946 and ''Max S'' in 1955. Her fate is unknown, last being registered in the Cayman Islands in 1980. History ''Empire Alderney'' was built by J. Harker Ltd., Knottingley as yard number 166. She had a Crossley engine. 1977 NFL Draft
The 1977 NFL draft was the procedure by which National Football League teams selected amateur college football players. It is officially known as the NFL Annual Player Selection Meeting. The draft was held May 3–4, 1977, at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York City, New York. The league also held its first supplemental draft, which took place after the regular draft and before the regular season. This was the first draft in the common draft era (since 1967) to be 12 rounds, five rounds fewer than drafts of 1967–1976. The draft remained at 12 rounds through 1992 before being reduced to seven, where it has remained through 2022. The draft began with commissioner Pete Rozelle dedicating a moment of silence to California Golden Bears quarterback Joe Roth, one of the most electric passers in college football who was eligible for the 1977 draft. Kent, Ohio
Kent is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the largest city in Portage County. It is located along the Cuyahoga River in Northeast Ohio on the western edge of the county. The population was 28,215 at the 2020 Census. The city is counted as part of the Akron Metropolitan Statistical Area and the larger Cleveland–Akron–Canton Combined Statistical Area. Part of the Connecticut Western Reserve, Kent was settled in 1805 and was known for many years as Franklin Mills. Settlers were attracted to the area due to its location along the Cuyahoga River as a place for water-powered mills.
