Greenwood Music Camp
Greenwood Music Camp is a summer camp in Cummington, Massachusetts whose primary focus is chamber music. Other activities include soccer, crackabout, softball, capture the flag, a treasure hunt, charades, talent show, hikes up Mount Greylock, visits to art museums, a contra dance and a visit to the Cummington Fair, as well as sports swimming, tennis or ping-pong. Greenwood was founded in 1933 by Dorothy "Bunny" Fay Little and Ruth Hill McGregor, and moved to its current location in 1940. The senior session (up to age 18) is five weeks in July, and the junior session (up to age 13) is two weeks in August. Joel Krosnick
Joel Krosnick (born 1941, New Haven, Connecticut) is an American cellist who has performed as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician throughout the world for over 40 years. As a member of the Juilliard String Quartet from 1974 to 2016, he performed the great quartet literature throughout North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Early life Joel Krosnick was born in 1941 to a family of enthusiastic amateur musicians—his mother was a pianist, his father a violinist/doctor. There was so much recorded and live chamber music in his home that by the time Joel was twelve years old, he had played most of the Classical and Romantic piano trio literature with his mother and (now professional) violinist brother, Aaron. Mark Winthrop Wood is an American electric violinist and the founder of Wood Violins, a company that makes electric violins. His educational program has been featured on news programs nationwide. He is also an Emmy-winning composer and a former member of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. Career Education Mark Wood studied under Dr. Richard Rusack at Paul D. Schreiber High School in Port Washington, New York, before beginning his career with a full scholarship at the Juilliard School in New York and studied viola under William Lincer until he left. He then learned under the teachings of Richard Wright. Musician Wood was one of the violinists and an original member of the symphonic rock group Trans-Siberian Orchestra, which he left in 2009. Charles Neidich (born 1953 in New York City) is an American classical clarinetist, composer, and conductor. Early career A native New Yorker of Russian and Greek descent, Charles Neidich began his clarinet studies with his father, Irving Neidich, at the age of eight, and continued them with the renowned teacher Leon Russianoff and, later in Moscow, with Boris Dikov. His reputation has grown steadily since his 1974 New York recital début while still a student at Yale. A series of prizes helped launch his early career: the Silver Medal in the 1979 Geneva International Music Competition, Second Prize in the 1982 Munich International Competition and one of three Grand Prizes in the 1984 Accanthes International Competition in Paris. Julian Andreas Kuerti (born September 28, 1976 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada) is a Canadian conductor. He is the son of pianist Anton Kuerti and cellist Kristine Bogyo. Kuerti read engineering and physics at the University of Toronto, and graduated with an honours degree. He later began conducting studies at the University of Toronto, starting in 2000. He has also been a conducting student of Lutz Koehler, at the Berlin University of the Arts. Kuerti served as the founding artistic director and principal conductor of the Berlin-based group ''Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop'' from 2005 to 2008.
