Greenville Liberty SC is an American women's soccer team, that began play in 2022 in USL W League. They are affiliated with Greenville Triumph SC, a men's team in the USL League One. History On June 8, 2021, Greenville Triumph SC announced that they would create a women's team that would be one of the eight founding members of the new W League. Fans chose the name Greenville Liberty, which was announced along with the team colors and crest, on March 23, 2022 . The Liberty won their first game by defeating the Charlotte Independence women's team 4-2 on May 15 in Charlotte. They won their home debut by defeating the North Carolina Courage U23s 6-1 on May 20. Paladin Stadium
Paladin Stadium is a 16,000-seat stadium located near Greenville, South Carolina, USA. It was built in 1981 at a cost of $2 million, and originally seated 13,200 fans. It was expanded to its current capacity in 1985, and is currently home to the Furman Paladins football team. The stadium was converted to field turf before the 2013 season. In addition to football, Paladin Stadium is also used for graduation ceremonies and concerts. On January 9, 2023, the Greenville Triumph and Greenville Liberty soccer teams announced Paladin Stadium as their homes for the 2023 USL League One and USL W League seasons. The North Carolina Courage is a professional women's soccer team based in Cary, North Carolina. It was founded on January 9, 2017, after Stephen Malik acquired National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) franchise rights from the Western New York Flash. The Courage is affiliated with the men's team North Carolina FC of the United Soccer League and plays its home games at the Sahlen’s Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park. In 2018, the Courage became the first team in NWSL history to win the Shield and the Championship in the same season. In 2019, the team became the first team to win the Championship on its home field.
