Greensville Correctional Center is a prison facility located in unincorporated Greensville County, Virginia, near Jarratt. The prison, on a plot of land, is operated by the Virginia Department of Corrections. Syvasky Lafayette Poyner (April 7, 1956 – March 18, 1993) was an American spree killer who killed four women and a teenage girl during a series of armed robberies in Hampton, Virginia in 1984. Robert Charles Gleason Jr. (April 10, 1970 – January 16, 2013) was an American serial killer who was sentenced to death and executed in Virginia for two separate murders of two of his cellmates. Paul Warner Powell (April 13, 1978 – March 18, 2010) was an American man convicted and executed for the murder of his friend Stacie Reed, 16, in 1999. The D.C. sniper attacks (also known as the Beltway sniper attacks) were a series of coordinated shootings that occurred during three weeks in October 2002 throughout the Washington metropolitan area, consisting of the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia. Ten people were killed, and three others were critically wounded. The snipers were John Allen Muhammad (age 41 at the time) and Lee Boyd Malvo (age 17 at the time), who traveled in a blue 1990 Chevrolet Caprice sedan. John Allen Muhammad (born Williams; December 31, 1960 – November 10, 2009) was an American convicted murderer from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He, along with his partner and accomplice Lee Boyd Malvo (aged 17), a native of Kingston, Jamaica, carried out the D.C. sniper attacks of October 2002, killing 10 people.
