Greenslopes is a suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Greenslopes had a population of 8,936 people. It is by road south-east of the Brisbane GPO and is mostly residential with some commercial and light industrial areas. Geography Greenslopes lies by road south of the Brisbane GPO. There is some slight variety in the terrain, with low hills in the east and south sloping down to the flood plain of Norman Creek, which curls around the western and northern edges of the suburb on its way to join the Brisbane River at Norman Park. Stones Corner, Queensland
Stones Corner is an inner southern suburb of City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Geography Stones Corner is centred on the junction of Logan Road and Old Cleveland Road. History The area was originally known as Burnett's Swamp, being low-lying land around the flood-prone Norman Creek. The triangle of land (the "corner") at the south-east of the junction of Logan Road and Old Cleveland Road was purchased by James Stone in 1875. He tried to get a licence to operate a hotel at the location but was unsuccessful so he brewed and sold ginger beer instead. The area took the name ''Stone's Corner'' as a result and later became a suburb with that name. The present Stones Corner Hotel was opened on the site in 1888 as the Junction Hotel by Denis O'Connor. Logan Road, allocated state routes 95 and 30, is a major road in Brisbane, Queensland. It runs from Springwood, Queensland, Springwood in Logan City to Woolloongabba in Brisbane, with most of the route signed as state route 95. The route was formerly the main route to the Gold Coast, Queensland, Gold Coast from Brisbane, until the Pacific Motorway (Brisbane–Brunswick Heads), South East Freeway (now Pacific Motorway (Brisbane–Brunswick Heads), Pacific Motorway) was built. Coorparoo is a suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Coorparoo had a population of 16,282 people. Geography Coorparoo is by road south-east of the Brisbane GPO. It borders Camp Hill, Holland Park, Stones Corner, Greenslopes, East Brisbane and Norman Park. Toponymy Coorparoo was chosen as the name of the suburb at a public meeting on 22 March 1875, before which it was known as Four Mile Camp. The name Coorparoo is likely derived from an Aboriginal name for Norman Creek, probably recorded by early surveyors as ''Koolpuroom''. The word is thought to refer to either a place associated with mosquitoes, or a sound made by the 'gentle dove'. The Pacific Motorway is a motorway in Australia between Brisbane, Queensland, and Brunswick Heads, New South Wales, through the New South Wales–Queensland border at Tweed Heads. Old Cleveland Road is a major road in Brisbane, Queensland. It runs from Stones Corner to Capalaba in Brisbane, with most of the route signed as State Route 22. Sections of the road are also part of State Routes 30, 54, and 55. The road is the main route from inner Brisbane to Capalaba and Cleveland since New Cleveland Road only links Tingalpa with Capalaba.
