Greensborough Football Club is an Australian rules football club in Greensborough, Victoria, currently competing in the Northern Football Netball League. History The Greensborough Football Club was founded in 1893 playing its first game against Diamond Creek. In 1922 the club became affiliated with the Diamond Valley Football League (DVFL) and were premiers in their inaugural year. Greensborough were 1 of 6 original teams in the DVFL. To date the club has won 17 A grade 1st Division premierships, and been runners up 15 times. Currently, the club plays their home games at War Memorial Park in Greensborough and fields 3 teams in Division 1 each week. Current status In recent years the club has achieved success in Division 1 since being promoted from 2nd Division in 2006 after winning Premierships in all three age groups (Seniors, Reserves, Under 19s). Evelyn Observer And South And East Bourke Record
__NOTOC__ The ''Evelyn Observer'' was a weekly newspaper released from 1873 to 1942 in the north-east area of Melbourne, Victoria in Australia. It was first published on 31 October 1873 from a school house at Kangaroo Ground. Andrew Ross, the district's first school master and hotel-keeper was the ''Observers first proprietor, and he enlisted the help of a printer, John Rossiter, who became the first editor. It then operated out of a dedicated building on the top of a hill. After the transfer of the newspaper office to Hurstbridge, the building was purchased by the Eltham Shire Council. Northern Football Netball League (Australia)
The Northern Football Netball League (formerly known as the Diamond Valley Football League and later Northern Football League) is an Australian sports league based in the Diamond Valley region of suburban Melbourne, Victoria. The league regulates competitions of both sports, Australian rules football and netball in the region. History The league was founded in 1922, originally having six clubs, three of whom still participate. In 1941 the league went into recess for five years as a result of World War II, the competition recommencing in 1946. After the war the league continued to grow. Formation of Division Two In 1981 the league was split into two divisions. The Diamond Creek Football Club is an Australian rules football club located in Diamond Creek – an outer north-eastern suburb of Melbourne. History Formed in 1904, the club was a founding member of the Whittlesea District Football Association. A move to the Bourke-Evelyn Football League in 1906 was very successful with premierships in 1906 and 1908 and being runners-up in 1907 and 1912. Nevertheless, Diamond Creek moved to the Heidelberg District Football League after World War I and, in 1922 joined Eltham, Greensborough, Kangaroo Ground, Templestowe and Warrandyte as founding members of the Diamond Valley Football League. 2005 Division 2 Premiership Diamond Creek's last premiership was in 2005 in division 2 defeating Greensborough Football Club. Heidelberg Football Club is an Australian rules football club in Heidelberg, Victoria, currently competing in the Northern Football League. History Established in 1876, Heidelberg Football Club is one of the oldest Australian rules football clubs in the country. The club initially competed in the Melbourne Football League against other suburban clubs such as Northcote, Waverley, South Melbourne and Sandridge. Robert Hyde (footballer)
Robert Hyde (born 1 November 1954) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the Collingwood and Essendon football teams in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1970s. Playing career Hyde played 63 senior VFL football games between 1973 and 1979. A defender, Hyde won the Copeland Trophy in 1976 for Collingwood's best and fairest player. Hyde played for Collingwood in both the drawn 1977 VFL Grand Final and the Grand Final replay the following week. He finished his career with Essendon. Coaching career Hyde coached Greensborough to Diamond Valley Football League premierships in 1983 and 1984, and then spent time coaching North Old Boys in the Victorian Amateur Football Association.
