Greenleaf S. Van Gorder
Greenleaf Scott Van Gorder (June 2, 1855 York, Livingston County, New York – November 2, 1933) was an American lawyer and politician from New York. Life He attended the common schools, Angelica Academy, and Alfred University. Then he studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1877, and practiced in Pike. He was Clerk of the Town of Pike from 1878 to 1881; Supervisor of the Town of Pike from 1883 to 1887; a member of the New York State Assembly (Wyoming Co.) in 1888 and 1889; and a member of the New York State Senate (30th D.) from 1890 to 1893, sitting in the 113th, 114th, 115th and 116th New York State Legislature The 116th New York State Legislature, consisting of the New York State Senate and the New York State Assembly, met from January 3 to April 20, 1893, during the second year of Roswell P. The 115th New York State Legislature, consisting of the New York State Senate and the New York State Assembly, met from January 5 to April 26, 1892, during the first year of Roswell P. Flower's governorship, in Albany. Background Under the provisions of the New York Constitution of 1846, 32 Senators and 128 assemblymen were elected in single-seat districts; senators for a two-year term, assemblymen for a one-year term. The senatorial districts were made up of entire counties, except New York County (seven districts) and Kings County (three districts). Charles Lamy (New York Politician)
Charles Lamy (May 7, 1849, East Eden, New York – February 21, 1929, Buffalo, New York) was an American merchant and a New York State Senate, New York state senator. Life He attended the district schools, and then became a clerk in a grocery store in Buffalo. On June 10, 1875, he married Magdalena Urban. In 1876, he opened his own store, and subsequently became the owner of a wholesale and retail grocery, and hardware, flour and feed stores. He was President of the Magnus Beck Brewery, and also engaged in the real estate business. On June 10, 1885, he married Clara B. Demeyer. He was a member of the New York State Senate from 1894 to 1898, sitting in the 117th New York State Legislature, 117th, 118th New York State Legislature, 118th (both 30th D.), 119th New York State Legislature, 119th, 120th New York State Legislature, 120th and 121st New York State Legislatures (all three 47th D.).
