Greene Naftali is a contemporary art gallery located in the Chelsea, Manhattan, Chelsea neighborhood of New York City. Owner Carol Greene is an American art dealer and founder of Greene Naftali. She was born and raised in Quincy, Massachusetts, and received a B.A. from Harvard University. After college, Greene moved to New York City, where she began working at John Good Gallery in SoHo. In 1995, she opened Greene Naftali. In addition to her gallery, she is involved in a number of arts organizations, including Artists Space, where she serves on the board of directors. Greene lives in New York City with her partner, artist Craig Kalpakjian. Aria Dean (born 1993) is an American artist, critic, and curator. Until 2021, Dean served as Curator and Editor of Rhizome (organization), Rhizome. Tony Cokes (born 1956) is an American visual artist and educator. Early life and education Cokes was born in Richmond, Virginia. He studied photography and creative writing at Goddard College, and received an MFA degree (1985) in sculpture from Virginia Commonwealth University. Art career In 1995, Renee Cox, Fo Wilson, and Tony Cokes created the Negro Art Collective (NAC) to fight cultural misrepresentations about Black Americans. Artwork Cokes's artwork concerns popular culture and mass entertainment. In the 1990s, he was part of the band X-PRZ. Laura Owens
Laura Owens (born 1970) is an American painter, gallery owner and educator. She emerged in the late 1990s from the Los Angeles art scene. She is known for large-scale paintings that combine a variety of art historical references and painterly techniques. She lives and works in Los Angeles, California.
