Greenacres is a north eastern suburb of Adelaide, South Australia in the City of Port Adelaide Enfield. It is considered to be an inner suburb of greater Adelaide. Hampstead Road and Muller Road intersect at the south west corner of Greenacres, making it a bustling area during rush hour. These form the western and southern boundaries of the suburb, with Fosters Road on the east and Redward Avenue on the northern boundary. Greenacres is home to the Greenacres Shopping Centre, which has as its major shops a Coles supermarket (formerly a BI-LO), The Reject Shop and formerly Sam's Warehouse. The City of Port Adelaide Enfield Greenacres Library & Office is located to the east of the shopping centre precinct. City Of Port Adelaide Enfield
The City of Port Adelaide Enfield, located across inner north and north-western suburbs of Adelaide, is one of the largest metropolitan councils within South Australia. It was established on 26 March 1996 by the amalgamation of the City of Port Adelaide and the City of Enfield. Extending from the River Torrens to Outer Harbor, and covering an area of approximately 97 km², the Port Adelaide Enfield contains some of the South Australia's finest historical buildings and landmarks. Hampstead Barracks
Hampstead Barracks is an Australian Army base in the Adelaide suburb of Greenacres, located about to the north of the Adelaide central business district. Situated on the corner of Hampstead and Muller Roads, it is only a small suburban base, sitting on less than 24 acres of land. The barracks is home to the Tom Derrick VC Soldiers' Club, which is named after Tom Derrick, a South Australian Victoria Cross recipient from the Second World War. The Adelaide Universities Regiment (AUR), an Australian Army Reserve officer training unit, is the main occupying unit, with the base hosting the Regimental Headquarters, as well as Training, Support and Beersheba Companies. Bi-Lo was an Australian supermarket chain owned by Wesfarmers. Once a chain of 180 outlets, Bi-Lo stores were progressively re-branded as Coles Supermarkets from 2006, or closed. Klemzig is a suburb of Adelaide in the City of Port Adelaide Enfield. It was the first settlement of German immigrants in Australia and was named after the village of Klemzig in what was then German Prussia and is now Klępsk in western Poland. Background The initial establishment of Klemzig as an Old Lutheran settlement in the South Australian Colony is attributed to a decision by Pastor August Ludwig Christian Kavel. Hampstead Gardens is a north-eastern suburb of Adelaide, in the City of Port Adelaide Enfield. Triangular in shape, it is bounded by Muller Road to the north, which meets North East Road which is the boundary to the south and east and then Ways Road which is its western boundary. The suburb contains many post World War II character homes on large blocks, predominantly on Ways Road and on the North East Road portion of the suburb. A trademark of the suburb are the many streets lined with Jacaranda trees.
