Green Wake
''Green Wake'' is a horror comic book series published by Image comics in 2011. The series takes place in the forgotten town of Green Wake, where a string of mutilated murder victims lead detectives Morley Mack and Kreiger in search of a young woman named Ariel, their prime suspect. When a stranger arrives in town with startling connections to Ariel, Morley discovers a dark link between the case and his past. It only ran 10 of the planned 25 issues, due to a lack of sales. Reception The series received positive reviews from critics, often praising the book for its experimental and enigmatic tone. Image Comics
Image Comics is an American comic book publisher and is the third largest comic book and graphic novel publisher in the industry in both unit and market share. It was founded in 1992 by several high-profile illustrators as a venue for creator-owned properties, in which comics creators could publish material of their own creation without giving up the copyrights to those properties. Normally this isn't the case in the work for hire-dominated American comics industry, where the legal author is a publisher, such as Marvel Comics or DC Comics, and the creator is an employee of that publisher. Riley Rossmo is a Canadian comic book artist and illustrator, known for his work on various Image Comics titles, as well as Marvel Comics' ''Daken: Dark Wolverine''. Rossmo is an instructor at the Alberta College of Art and Design. Personal life Originally from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Rossmo now lives in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Career Rossmo is a graduate of the Alberta College of Art and Design. His first professional work was producing illustrations for publications such as ''Avenue'', ''Calgary Inc'', ''WestJet magazine'' and '' Scratch''. A comic book, also called comicbook, comic magazine or (in the United Kingdom and Ireland) simply comic, is a publication that consists of comics art in the form of sequential juxtaposed panels that represent individual scenes. Panels are often accompanied by descriptive prose and written narrative, usually, dialogue contained in word balloons emblematic of the comics art form. "Comic Cuts" was a British comic published from 1890 to 1953. It was preceded by "Ally Sloper's Half Holiday" (1884) which is notable for its use of sequential cartoons to unfold narrative. Kelly Thompson is an American writer of novels and comic books. She is best known for the ''Jem and the Holograms'' comic with co-creator and artist Sophie Campbell, a modern re-imagining of the 1980s cartoon of the same name, the Eisner-nominated Marvel comic ''Hawkeye'' with artist Leonardo Romero, which stars Kate Bishop, and '' Captain Marvel'' featuring Carol Danvers with artist Carmen Carnero and colorist Tamra Bonvillain.
