Green Run High School is a public secondary school located at 1700 Dahlia Drive of the ''Green Run'' area of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Green Run hosts a very diverse student population many of which come from the large concentration of military families that have moved into the area within the past couple of decades. The school was the largest high school in Virginia when it opened in 1979, with 247,000 feet of space. When it was first opened, it had the largest enrollment in the state. Due to changing demographics and the ensuing addition of new schools, the school is now one of the smallest in Virginia Beach when it comes to student body population. Construction cost totaled $11.4 million. The current head principal of the school is Dr. Christopher Todd Tarkenton. Andre Cason (born January 20, 1969) is an American former track and field sprinter. He was a member of the American 4 × 100 meters relay team that won the gold medal at the 1991 World Championships in Tokyo with a world record time of 37.50 seconds. A few weeks after this event Cason, ran his first sub-10-second 100 meters race when winning in Koblenz in 9.99 seconds. Cason attended Texas A&M University, where he was a two-time NCAA champion, and seven-time All-American for the Aggies.
