Green Island, Hong Kong
Green Island is an island off the northwest coast of Kennedy Town, Hong Kong Island, separated by the Sulphur Channel. A smaller island nearby to the east, uninhabited, is called Little Green Island (). Administratively, the two islands are part of Central and Western District. Buildings Green Island is largely uninhabited and at the east coast is Green Island Reception Centre and Green Island Police Station. On the top of the hill is an office of the Marine Department and a lighthouse southwest guides the ships in Sulphur Channel. Lighthouse compound The buildings of the Green Island Lighthouse Compound were declared as monuments, In 2008. The historic buildings include the two lighthouses built in 1875 and 1905 and the European quarters of the lighthouse compound. These three buildings are individually Grade II historic buildings. Many of the Vietnamese people in Hong Kong immigrated as a result of the Vietnam War and persecution since the mid-1970s. Waglan Island is a member of the Po Toi group of islands in Hong Kong. It hosts a ground of meteorological observation and recording. This is a list of lighthouses in the People's Republic of China which includes mainland China and the two special administrative regions of Hong Kong and Macau. Lighthouses in Mainland China Lighthouses in Hong Kong Following the establishment of British Hong Kong as a trade port in 1841, the first lighthouses in Hong Kong were planned and built to assist international navigation. The first lighthouse to enter service was Cape D'Aguilar Lighthouse in April 1875, which was operated by lighthouse keepers who received specialist training in London and lived in the lighthouse in one-month shifts. As of 2017, five lighthouse structures in Hong Kong that date from before the Second World War remain in operation: Cape D'Aguilar, Green Island (two lighthouses), Waglan, and Tang Lung Chau. Lantau Island (also Lantao Island, Lan Tao) is the largest island in Hong Kong, located West of Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon Peninsula, and is part of the New Territories. Aberdeen, Hong Kong
Aberdeen () is an area on southwest Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong. Administratively, it is part of the Southern District. White-bellied Sea Eagle
The white-bellied sea eagle (''Haliaeetus leucogaster''), also known as the white-breasted sea eagle, is a large diurnal bird of prey in the family Accipitridae. Originally described by Johann Friedrich Gmelin in 1788, it is closely related to Sanford's sea eagle of the Solomon Islands, and the two are considered a superspecies. A distinctive bird, the adult white-bellied sea eagle has a white head, breast, under-wing coverts and tail.
