Green Forest (facial Tissue)
Green Forest (18 February 1979 – 2000) was an American-bred, French-trained Thoroughbred racehorse and sire. The best colt of his generation in France at two and three years of age, and the best miler in Europe in 1982, he won five of his ten races in a track career which lasted from May 1981 until September 1982. In 1981, he won four races, including the Prix Morny, Prix de la Salamandre and Grand Critérium. In the following year, he ran poorly in the early part of the season but then produced his best performance to defeat a strong field in the Prix du Moulin. He was retired to stud at the end of 1982 and had moderate success as a sire of winners. Background Green Forest was a chestnut horse with a white blaze and a white sock on his right forefoot bred by James G. Bell at the Jonabell Farm in Lexington, Kentucky. Shecky Greene (born Fred Sheldon Greenfield; April 8, 1926) is an American comedian. He is known for his nightclub performances in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he became a headliner in the 1950s and '60s. He has appeared in several films, including ''Tony Rome''; ''History of the World, Part I''; and ''Splash''. In television, he has guest-starred on such television shows as ''Love, American Style'' and ''Combat!'', and later ''Laverne & Shirley'' and ''Mad About You''. Early life, family and education Greene was born to Jewish parents, Carl and Bessie Greenfield, and raised on the North Side of Chicago, Illinois. Prix Robert Papin
The Prix Robert Papin is a Group 2 flat horse race in France open to two-year-old thoroughbred colts and fillies. It is run at Chantilly over a distance of 1,200 metres (about 6 furlongs), and it is scheduled to take place each year in July. History The event was established in 1892, and it was originally called the Omnium de Deux Ans. It was initially run over 1,100 metres, and was extended to 1,200 metres in 1903. For a period it was held in early August, and it was one of France's first two-year-old races of the season. It reverted to 1,100 metres in 1907, and from this point juveniles could be raced earlier in the year. The Omnium de Deux Ans was the country's richest race for two-year-olds until 1914. The Prix du Bois is a Group 3 flat horse race in France open to two-year-old thoroughbreds. It is run at Deauville over a distance of 1,000 metres (about 5 furlongs), and it is scheduled to take place each year in late June or early July. History The event was established in 1925, and it was originally held at Longchamp. It takes its name from the Bois de Boulogne, the location of its former home, and the Avenue du Bois (now the Avenue Foch), which leads towards the racecourse. Due to World War II, the Prix du Bois was not run from 1940 to 1945. The race was promoted to Group 3 status in 1982. It continued to be staged at Longchamp until 1994. Maisons-Laffitte Racecourse
The Hippodrome de Maisons-Laffitte at 1 avenue de la Pelouse in the northwestern Parisian suburb of Maisons-Laffitte in France was a grass, turf horse racing facility and Hippodrome, track for Thoroughbred flat racing. Opened in 1878 by Joseph Oller, inventor of the Parimutuel betting, pari-mutuel machine, it sits on 92 hectares that belonged to the wealthy banker Jacques Laffitte. The nearby Château de Maisons, Château de Maisons-Laffitte is home to The Museum of the Racehorse. In November 2018 France Galop announced that the racecourse would close at the end of 2019 due to financial pressures on the organisation. The final meeting was held on 29th October 2019. Fusaichi Pegasus (; foaled April 12, 1997) is a champion American Thoroughbred racehorse who won the 2000 Kentucky Derby, and subsequently set a record at auction - selling for US$70M to Coolmore Stud. Background The colt was purchased as a yearling for $4 million by Fusao Sekiguchi. Pine Bluff (foaled 1989 in Kentucky, died 2014) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse. Bred and raced by John Ed Anthony's Loblolly Stable, he was a son of Danzig and grandson of the 20th century's most important sire in the United States, Northern Dancer. His dam, Rowdy Angel, was a daughter of two-time North American Champion sire Halo. Early racing career In his debut in 1991 at age 2, Pine Bluff broke his maiden, then was sent into graded stakes races. Ruffian (horse)
Ruffian (April 17, 1972 – July 7, 1975) was an American Thoroughbred racehorse who won ten consecutive races, including the Acorn, Mother Goose and Coaching Club American Oaks, then known as the American Triple Tiara. She was in the lead at every point of call in every race she ever ran and set new stakes records in each of the eight stakes races she won. Her dominating wins caused her to be named the American Champion filly at both ages two and three. In July 1975, she entered a highly anticipated match race with Kentucky Derby winner Foolish Pleasure, in which she broke down. Surgery was attempted but Ruffian reacted poorly and exacerbated the injuries while coming out of anesthesia. As a result, she was euthanized.
