Nikos Kourkoulos
Nikos Kourkoulos ( el, Νίκος Κούρκουλος; December 5, 1934 in Athens, Greece – January 30, 2007) was a highly respected Greek theatrical and film performer, one of the most talented and recognizable actors in Greece of modern times. Kourkoulos is best known to Greek audiences for playing "Angelos Kreouzis" in '' Oratotis miden'', but he also appeared in other movies such as ''To Homa vaftike kokkino'', ''Exodos kindynou'', ''O Astrapogiannos'', ''O Katiforos'' among others. Life and career Nikos Kourkoulos grew up in the Athens district of Zografou. As young sports and football were his loves. He belonged to Panathinaikos F.C. roster during his school years. Acting came before him rather accidentally. As he himself had claimed, he decided to become an actor after reading books on theatre. Tonia Marketaki
Tonia Marketaki ( el, Τώνια Μαρκετάκη; 28 July 1942 – 26 July 1994) was a Greek film director and screenwriter. She was born in Pireas and spent many of her childhood years in the Zografou district of Athens. Her maternal origins are from Kardamyla, in the island of Chios. She received her formal training at IDHEC in Paris and upon her return to Greece she worked as a film critic in various newspapers from 1963 until 1967. The same year sees the completion of her first short-film creation and subsequent imprisonment by the then recently established Greek military junta of 1967–1974, Colonels' regime. Upon her release Marketaki fled abroad, working as an assistant editor in the U.K. and a director of educational films for illiterate farmers in Algeria. ''John the Violent'' ( el, Ιωάννης ο Βίαιος, ''Ioannis o Viaios'') is a 1973 black and white Greek film starring Manolis Logiadis in his role as Ioannis Zachos, a young psychopath who murders a woman in Athens. The award-winning film was directed by Tonia Marketaki. The film impressed the audience at the Thessaloniki film festival upon its release in 1973 where it was awarded three of the top prizes. The film is based on an actual murder which happened in Athens in the 1960s and created a media sensation at the time. Plot Ioannis Zachos is a psychopath who fantasises about killing beautiful women as a means to validate his manhood and to feel a sense of empowerment. He stalks the empty streets of Athens at night looking for victims. In one of those outings he enters a small sidestreet and at around midnight he sees a young woman, Eleni Chalkia, whom he attacks stabbing her to death. Nikos Rizos
Nikos Rizos ( el, Νίκος Ρίζος; 30 September 1924, in Peta – 20 April 1999, in Athens) was a Greek actor. He took part in many Greek comedies in cinema. He and his wife Elsa had one son. Career Rizos began his career with ''Anthropoi, anthropoi'' in 1948 at the Metropolitan Theatre. He founded his own company in 1959 which he co-ran from 1961 with Vasilis Avlonitis and Georgia Vasileiadou. He appeared in various comedies in Greece and Germany, performing for the immigrant Greeks abroad. In 1986, he appeared at the ''Astor'' Theatre on Stadiou Street which he ran from the artistic performance until 1990. Rizos changed and he was a theatrical entrepreneur for 27 years. He starred in around 300 comedy films including ''To soferaki'' (with Giorgos Tzavellas), ''O thisavros tou makariti'' (with Nikos Tsiforos), ''O Klearchos, i Marina kai o kontos'', ''Simoria eraston'', and others. Dinos Iliopoulos (Greek: '; 12 June 1913 – 4 June 2001) was a Greek actor. He was one of the most prevalent film/theater actors in Greece. Biography He was born in Alexandria, Egypt in 1915. A few years later his family moved to Marseille and there he finished high school. He permanently relocated to Greece in 1935 at the age of 22 started styding at the Berkshire High Commercial School in Athens and also studied acting at the Drama School of Giannoulis Sarantidis.
